Can some explain why starting at U15 the tournaments are “showcases” instead of classic tournaments. There is no discount on the cost of tournaments compared to U14 yet you are guaranteed to only get a max of 3 games instead of a potential 4th championship game for your money and no medals. I know our players and parents love the opportunity of advancing and winning medals.

Seems strange to me as well? Surely U15 girls have the same ability to play 4 games? Plus no discount is the joke. Plus sorry, most of these local tournaments at U15 that are running those age division as “showcases” are not exactly what a showcase is or should be.

Not all tournament u15 and up are showcases. Only the ones by the big clubs.
Discount? The discount is on the finals for all those other age groups and brackets. Everyone is paying for 3 games and if you make the finals that’s a bonus. And some showcases still give out trophies to the winners of the brackets, it’s just points based instead of a final.
Though the trend is that HS age kids can only play one game a day so eliminating two days of double headers seems right to them. Though not gonna lie I miss the days of having three games on Saturday for tournaments, and playoffs/finals Sunday.

The older the player, the harder their play is on their bodies, especially their muscles. They really should not be playing 2 full games per day. Even if they shorten them to 70 minutes it still isn't healthy. It is the right thing to do...3 games max.

I’m good with that but drop the fees from $725 down to $550

I’m good with that but drop the fees from $725 down to $550 U13-U14, 180 minutes min, 240 minutes max U15-U16, 210 minutes U17-U19, 240 minutes Doesn’t seem so bad, in terms of comparing one age group to another

Other tournaments find a way to get in the championship game. These highly compensated owners and directors could figure it out.

I think it is tough with Atlanta traffic to do Friday night games so that you could make it one game per day and then have teams have a second game Sunday if you made the finals. It can be done, but I am not sure it is all that necessary. In my opinion the preseason tournaments are kind of like pro soccer preseason friendlies or like the NFL preseason...time for the coaches to get to know their players and for the players to get to know each other and the team tactics. Honestly the game results really shouldn't matter. For the academy ages I think it is different. None of their "regular season" games matter. There are no standings. For them the tournament results are the only games that DO matter. Let the young ones have their medals. Let the older ones get ready for their season.

Yeah, as they get older... those 80-90 min games are fast and physical. 4 games in 2 days beats the crap out of them.
