OK. I know this is a silly question but I am somewhat new to the game.
Where is the best place to find outdoor soccer cleats in North Metro Atlanta (OTP)? Looking for a women's shoe/boot/cleat size 5-7 range. It almost appears my best option is to buy them from Amazon with a free return policy. Give it the old "see it online, try it on and return if it doesn't not feel comfortable" approach. This may take a while but I am not sure another option. I say this is because d***s, Academy and Lloyd's seem to only carry a limited number of cleats and then they never seems to have the sizes in stock. I just wanted to see if anyone had a better approach from all their years at this.
Thanks

Our approach was go to one of the stores you mentioned or one of the area local stores like soccer locker, Best Soccer Buy and look for the style, color and potential sizes. Then take the model and go online with a wider range of options and then purchase from there. I really wish I could fully support the local stores, but when they don't have it, you have no choice but to go online. Good Luck

It seems like all the girls in Atlanta wear they same exact size - meaning that size is always sold out locally. I use Lloyds primarily, but only because it offers the best selection near me. Online is fine, but the overall turnaround can be frustrating - especially when the cleats made in Vietnam show up and are about 2 sizes too small. BestBuy soccer is too far from me to drive to for a casual visit. There are a few smaller shops in North Metro (Alpharetta - Marvel Soccer, Canton - Soccer Post ) that give great service, but overall can't compete very well with online selection.

We generally buy online but have purchased from Soccer Locker at Pleasanthill and Buford Hwy before. That had an ok selection last time we were there a year or two ago.

I buy a year or 2 old models off Ebay. But to try on cleats I have been to the place that WAS Best Buy Soccer near Northcrest Rd/Access road near Spaghetti junction. If you find something you like, check online.
Men's size 5-7 does seem to be the primary size for girls/women. For Adidas, the cleats switch from youth to adult at men's size 6.5, doubling in price.

Lloyds, best buy soccer, soccer locker.
Find what fits, then buy them online after that. I often find last year's colors on Adidas' site for half price - or soccer.com sometimes.

My approach for the kids is similar to FG. We try on different brands and sizes to make sure we are in the ball park, then fine tune it and order on line. I have even gone as far as to buy 4-6 pair when our kids are ot sure about which one they like best and are between sizes. Then I return the rest and keep the one they choose. Just make sure it is a free return policy like with Amazon or Zappos, etc.

If you like Adidas or Nike cleats you can buy them direct through their websites too. Both typically offer free and free return shipping, or being able to return to the multiple outlets around the metro.

All of the above. My daughter never likes the girls cleats do we buy the mens. Men’s 6 = women’s 8. Best Buy has a new name last time we drove past.

This is also what we did last time and I think worked out the best, I ordered three different styles from Adidas, they have two day free shipping and free returns so after my daughter tried on all of them she picked which one worked best and we just shipped the rest back! She has taken to wearing men's cleats because the selection is so much better. We just calculate that women sizes are usually 2 higher than men's, so mens 6 would be a women's 8. It's so hard in that size range, there's so little! Good luck! If you like Adidas or Nike cleats you can buy them direct through their websites too. Both typically offer free and free return shipping, or being able to return to the multiple outlets around the metro.

You wonder why there are very few soccer specific retail stores? Look at the above responses, "try them on at the store, and then go purchase them online". I understand the exponential growth of e-commerce and the death of retail better than most. I worked in the athletic retail industry for 20+ years (operating 5 store locations, as well as an online store). I ended up closing the 5 retail stores after 15 years in the marketplace, but kept the online shop and was able to sell it for a nice price. If you want a local place to purchase quality soccer boots and equipment, I suggest you start visiting your local retailers, because they will not be here much longer without your support.

I want to support a local specialty soccer shop... but inventory seems to always be lacking when I try. It’s a tough nut to crack. Maybe they should charge five bucks for “fitting” (or offer it as a merchandise credit) so people don’t have to pretend they want a different color.. when they really just intended all along to buy online.

The purchasing and returns also spur economic growth. Someone has to pick the order, confirm it, pack it for shipment and then have it shipped. Then someone has to marshal it through the shipping journey, input it into some trackable system and then actually deliver it. For those that don't fit, it repeats the journey in reverse. All jokes aside, if the local companies have the size, style or color we want, then we buy it there. Especially if it is within a few dollars of the prices online. However, sometimes your sizes are unavailable. What should we do, wait for the next truck coming thru in a week? Amazon has changed the way commerce flows.

If you want a local place to purchase quality soccer boots and equipment, I suggest you start visiting your local retailers, because they will not be here much longer without your support. I spent a couple years working for two small soccer specialty stores back in my younger days and ill tell you it’s hard to stay in business. Mind you this was early 2000s before the internet shops boomed too. You gotta order stock nearly 6-9 months in advance, and if you want to have 20–30 different types of boots then you can only order maybe 1-2 of each size. AND you gotta order all the sizes they offer so Men’s 6-12, kids/youth from itty bitty to 6 and same for women’s. And when cost on nearly all that stuff is only half of the retail that’s a whole lotta overhead for a business that’s only going to be really busy about 4 months out of the year. So if a certain style doesn’t sell like the Rep said it would a year prior you’re now stuck with all that stock you hope to break even on. So unless you’re lucky like Lloyd’s to get a ton of clubs for uniforms then it’s tough to make money year around.

If they have what we want I'm willing to buy it there... but usually they are sold out of the size (as some alluded to, every girl must seems to wear the same size) or the small selection samples just dont compare. I feel bad, but it is what it is... For other merchandise I do try to support the local shops, but this thread was about cleats.

I'd be happy to buy local, if I could even find what I was looking for.
My younger daughter is easier to fit - I often buy hers locally. My older daughter - nobody ever has it.

I checked online after I got home and I paid only $5 more than my "goal club" price at Soccer.com. That extra $5 was well worth it to me - I saved time waiting for online cleats to arrive, and hassle finding the correct size/fit ... I try to support local shops when I can, although eBay / Soccer.com are always options for me.
