Hopefully this means she’s stepping down at Technical Director too! Time to hire an American too! 😂😂

Whether you think that she was a terrific coach or that she was clueless, Jill Ellis couldn't have picked a better time to leave. There's nothing to gain and everything to lose by staying on.

Time to hire an American too! 😂😂 Can't tell if this is tongue-in-cheek (with the emojis) as a general knock on American coaches nor am I huge fan but FWIW while born in England she is a naturalized US Citizen. Unlike all of her assistant coaches...

I’m not surprised she is stepping down, go out on top. I was surprised to see she is only 52 years old, I thought she was in her 60’s

I don’t know about the timing aspect but yeah sure quit probably the easiest job in the world. Anyone know how much a year USSoccer has been paying her?

Read it I think In the espn story she wanted to renegotiate her contact before the World Cup but instead they gave her a raise to $500k a year from somewhere in the 300s

Not sure if Jill Ellis has ever coached a team that wasn't loaded with talent. DC united would be an epic fail. no question her accomplishments are amazing, just never came across as a coach that tactically new how to approach the game. Her style is brute force, chaos and direct play. I just don't see her being successful on a lesser quality side. Also, most don't consider her a player coach and from latest information was very stubborn. It's hard to argue with what she accomplished I just don't see it translating at the club level.

Soccer House said, “... It's hard to argue with what she accomplished I just don't see it translating at the club level.”
True-many coaches who are successful at one aren’t at the other-completely different mind/skill set.
And then there is Frank de Boer, who doesn’t appear good at either...
