Could someone tell me what the real selection criteria is for U14 Spring R3PL next spring? I've heard 2 different versions. One is that the 4 semi-finalists from this years state cup get in and the other is that the 4 top finishers in next falls' Athena A season get it.
My daughter's team will be in U14 next year and is in the semis next weekend and I'm just curious.
Thanks in advance.

OK - I'm not 100% sure on this one, because of a possible change being made. I'm not sure the change is for this fall or next. Here goes anyway:
If there is no change, the placement at state cup doesn't matter. The first and second placed teams from the fall season in Classic 1 and Athena A will get in automatically as Georgia's two representatives. The third and fourth placed teams may get in as wildcards, but those selections will be made by the Premier League commission based on their criteria which is different from Georgia's. (Note: the commission is not Georgia based. It is Region III based). That caused a whole lot of confusion and problems this spring with the U14 boys.
If the change goes into effect this fall, the U14's will be playing in the fall instead of the spring (no telling what they'll do for the spring). If that is the case, then first and second at state cup will be guaranteed Georgia's two slots. The teams that lose in the semifinals have a good shot of getting in as wild cards, but it is not guaranteed. Again, it comes down to the decision of the commission.
I'll check my sources and see which one is correct. That might take a day or two. One thing I want to stress is that Georgia is only guaranteed TWO PL East teams. We usually get four, but it is not a sure thing. There are 4 states and 12 slots. Slots are given in pairs for travel purposes. SC usually only gets 2 teams in. That leaves GA, FL and NC to fight over the last 4 slots. So far we have almost always gotten 2 of those four, but it isn't guaranteed.

Just remembered that I never gave a final answer. The U14's will play PL East in the spring, so State Cup was not a factor. It is a factor in getting into National League though, and that can make a difference come PL East selection time.

Thanks Dreaddy. So it will just be regular Athena A in the fall? Minus the 3 teams that begin ecnl?

Pretty much seems that's how it will be. Sometimes they may add a few extra teams to Athena A and Classic 1 since there will be 2-4 teams leaving in the Spring for PL East.
