I was talking about this on another post. It would be great to have women soccer back in Atlanta. I mention Arthur Blank would be great to be involved. The team could play at Mercedes Benz which is centrally located for everyone. Maybe he could do half price season ticket offers for existing holders which off the bat could add a good number of people to the games. If you get half of the existing season holders to buy tickets then you have 20,000 people right there. Then offer discounts to the soccer clubs in the area for their members maybe you grab another couple of Thousand. Crazy but it might work I am sure nobody thought Atlanta United would have more then 70k per game.
Great town with lots to do people would want to come here to play and then on top of that great soccer clubs to feed the academy teams. Be scary what would happen when you make a team of the best from Tophat, Concorde, GSA, UFA and the many other clubs I am missing. I think I would put my money down on that academy to do well nationwide

If they do it, I think they'd pilot the team at Kennesaw State for at least a year or two (where Carli Lloyd and the Atlanta Beat played). There is a high cost associated with opening and staffing the Benz it and the 6K average attendance for NWSL games would likely amount to a significant loss (especially with cheaper initial ticket prices). Of the 9 teams, only Portland averages over 10K attendance and after the 2nd best team's attendance, the average for the other 7 is around 4K. ATL may be able to draw higher-than-average attendance numbers, we would have to wait and see, but the ownership would need to see it happen before they'd consider moving the team down to the Benz (likely over 20K). But I think if they out-attended KSU 5/3rd Bank Stadium, then GSU's former Turner stadium or Tech's Bobby Dodd would likely be the next location. soccerstadiumdigest.com/2019-nwsl-attendance/

I hope they bring it..
atlfutboldad is probably right, but I hate it. I'd have a much harder time getting to Kennesaw than somewhere in town.

Would be easier for me but in the long run the attendance wouldn't show. That why I said someplace down town easier for all side to get in. Doesn't Georgia State have a soccer complex? Don't know how much it holds but the location would work.

The new express lanes dump you off right by the KSU stadium - avoid the traffic on 75 for $2 a car. Just get your PeachPass now - which every driver should already have, since it works in FL as well.

I agree, it would be great to have a women's professional team in Atlanta. Didn't the Beat play in Morris Brown's stadium though. I don't think that stadium has been maintained for several years since it is vacant and the school had financial issues but that seems like it could be a great option to revitalize. It is right down the street from the Benz, access via Marta, and a much smaller stadium to manage costs to operate (15k+ capacity). Would also go along with all the development in the area.

Plus playing indoor soccer will never last or is a good way to try and build a sport. 5/3 or Suntrust would be the best options until an actual soccer stadium is built.

Maybe I am just unlucky in my travels into and out of Cobb county, but 285 and 75 are always nightmares for me. Going into Atlanta for ATL games is never an issue...leaving is a different story.

No where in Kennesaw is easy to get to in Rush Hour from across town, North, East or South
