Just curious, does anyone know what teams TH Pre-DA team will play against? I don't think they can play in ECNL or SCCL games/tournaments - so does that mean they'll play in DA games/tournaments only? Saw they were at the Charlotte Invitational and didn't make it to finals against ECNL teams.

I don't know, but if they are "pre" DA, that means that are not DA, and therefore they can play anyone, anywhere else. Is that not correct? When my kid was Pre-DA, we played other clubs top teams, but that was before SCCL was around. Doesn't Atlanta United play their top U12 kids or "Pre-DA" in the SCCL because DA doesn't start until the next year at U-13. I don't know, but I would think they would still do the same with other top club teams? :Shrugs:

I thought I heard they worked something out with some of the other DA teams so when the older ages are matched up, so will the U13 age group. This could be incorrect as it is possible I misunderstood the comment I heard.

I think they can play other teams, but they can't play any ECNL or SCCL specific tournaments, and most of the ECNL and SCCL games are without other teams in their league. It doesn't seem to leave them with a lot of options...

interesting.... I tried to look up schedules for Tophat Pre-DA and Tophat DPL. Is there a reason 1) can’t seem to find any info about any other club doing pre-DA. There are some DA clubs doing U13 DA but not “pre-“ Only see Pre-DA game results from Charlotte Invitational where they lost to Concorde Premier ECNL and crushed the other teams. 2) Unless games are posted elsewhere, DPL seems to have very few teams/games. doesn’t look like they played in the Atlanta DPL Showcase. Is this intentional or did someone mess up royally? What’s the story here? anyone care to share?

With girls DA starts at U14 at Tophat and u13 at some of the other DA clubs. Pre-DA is a new thing for their top U13 team. Last year the top U13 team was in ECNL.

Me thinks NTH is in transition year with no ecnl and trying to sell weak dpl Pre-DA and DPL are different leagues though. Why do neither seem to have a game schedule? Or you’re saying that has to do with no ECNL?

I think the whole Pre-ABC mantra was developed in ECNL. So girls at the U12 year prior to the actual start of ECNL would play other potential future ECNL teams to give a taste of what to expect the next year. I also believe the ECNL showcases would have a mini-showcase with a couple of games each to again acclimate the players and parents as to what to expect beginning the next year. In today's environment, it's hard to have a real Pre-DA or Pre-DPL on the girls side since there are only 2 local GDA clubs. To get meaningful games, the Pre* teams would have to play the top teams from other non DA/DPL clubs. I do hope NTH and UFA get it together and think long term on how to iron some of the kinks out of this. Would luv for the local DA teams to do well not just regionally but nationally.

Seems like neither of those teams have anyone to play. Maybe they just play each other over and over 🤷♀️

The lack of a place for preDA teams for TH and UFA to play probably more of a factor of the big 5 or 6 leaving Georgia Soccer than other factors. Just 3 short years ago (before ECNL started at u13) the pre ecnl teams for all the clubs played Athena A in the fall and most were promoted to R3PL in the spring... Fast forward to now, TH and the other big 5 or 6 do not place top teams in GA Soccer. None of the new leagues (SCCL, DPL, NPL) are as competitive as the old Athena A (u13) was before this all fell apart. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out this year. What will people say about DPL after all the games are played? Somehow NPL moved from a joke to legitimate. Not sure how, but the way people talk about DPL is how NPL was talked about 5 or 6 years ago...

There is no question that U13 is not what it used to be and that could be laid at ECNL's feet since it used to start at U14 and they decided to do U13 to counter the start of DA. Then the big 5/6 made it worse with the SCCL and NPL stuff and now DPL. But there is a lot of blame to go around and a lot of it is the rat race to be on the "best" team at a young age so that they can be on the "best" team to position themselves for the "all important" college scholarship. We are in such a hurry to have them be the best before they are even old enough to go to high school...sometimes even before middle school.

LOL The only club that has it is NTH so I think you are taking all their comments and projecting that everyone is taking it seriously.

If only the adults in the room would put their egos aside and schedule meaningful games against other teams and clubs, the system would self correct. But sometimes greed and fear of losing or losing players forces everyone to cower in their respective corners and not challenge the status quo. So to answer your question, yes they can play each other...
