They did what they had to do. They scored when they had the opportunities. That is what the matches are all about. Truth be told, the defensive display in the first half was bad. If they do the same in Brazil they will be out in no time. The attack was good. Beautiful goal by Fabian Johnson. Great feed by Bradley. All this shows that playing in Europe is an advantage with the kind of heads up play by Bradley and the overlapping by Johnson. The US looked formidable in attack. They need to work on defense. All three teams in their group are lethal in attack. Ghana's strength is in the midfield = strong creative players. And we all know what Germany and Portugal bring to the table. Was an enjoyable game...

agree. team looked better. but ouch defensively. i thought Timothy Chandler looked lost all game. he constantly was letting players behind him and when he did recover, he applied very little pressure. he has very nonchalant out there, and looks like he is just going through the motions.

Ok Turkey is better than the Baijanis, but still. There were gaping holes in the middle at the top of the 18, not to mention on the right. Tim Chandler especially seems perfectly comfortable letting the right winger have as much space as they need. And his knack for giving the ball away in the defensive third is a bit interesting. Bradley, Dempsey, Johnson, even Altidore look like the real deal. Josy looks close to breaking through, although he still looks a bit too willing to defer to his teammates in final third. I can live with Jermain Jones in that defense mid position. More athletic and seems a bit quicker with decision making than Beckerman. I can live with Cameron. Besler does not inspire confidence. Davis and Zuzi are ok, but are they really international class players? Would they make the final 30 for any of the squads the US will face in group play? Why are Yedlin and Green on a team going to the World Cup?
