Baseball field. Come on
The net is embarrassing.
Are you kidding me with that horrible tackle for that PK. Fool.
All this crap about high school soccer - this game is worse than a high school soccer game!

Why does MLS allow them to play on that field? The game is completely changed.

The foul for the PK was ridiculous. When teammates of the player committing the foul fuss at him instead of the ref, you know it is an obvious foul.

Why does MLS allow them to play on that field? The game is completely changed. Same reason they allow Atlanta United to constantly play indoor soccer. Same home field advantage. MONEY!!!! $$$$$$$$$

MONEY!!!! $$$$$$$$$ Our pitch size is way over the FIFA minimum. No it isn't natural grass, but a lot of teams play on turf, and I got no issue with that as long as the field is the right size. NYCFC claims that their field is FIFA minimum but we all know it isn't. I believe someone has even measured it, and it isn't, but MLS continues to turn a blind eye on that crap. No wonder they were top of the East and almost unstoppable at home. They got to run about 1/3 less on their own pitch than everyone else's and mess up any team that likes to get wide since the pitch isn't wide. If MLS wants to quit looking like a 3rd rate league, this is one of the problems they have to fix. I am so glad if we can get by Philly tonight that we don't have to go back up to that U12 field to play.

I prefer natural grass to turf, but the dimensions of a baseball field are too odd, and covering the infield dirt or the mound make a very irregular field surface. But let's push for promotion / relegation first. When that happens we will know that the MLS focus has shifted from making $$$ to playing soccer.

Its shocking to be honest -- we have college women's teams taking chartered flights to away games and playing on real pitches yet the top tier professional league is flying commercial airlines and playing on baseball fields with nets between the camera and the field.

Yeah, I don’t see that ever being fixed. If MLB, with incredibly larger dollars at stake & careers/livelihoods on the line based exclusively on statistics and metrics, can allow parks like Fenway to exist, MLS won’t upset the tiniest apple cart for a few square feet of playing surface.

Has there been any more conversation about NYFC getting their own stadium near Citi Field?

But let's push for promotion / relegation first. When that happens we will know that the MLS focus has shifted from making $$$ to playing soccer. Well as fast as they are expanding if they can get to at least 30 teams (I think they are really shooting for 40 teams). Then we could do top 15 in a Top division and bottom 15 in a 2nd tier if the owners will agree to it. At that point the talent will be so diluted that there is no way more than 15 teams or so will be able to compete. I think promotion/relegation is inevitable if they keep expanding to more and more teams.

Fenway was around long before any of the statistics and metrics existed.. and is considered one of the great places to play and watch in any sport. Probably not the best example.

It’s actually the best example for that exact reason and why I choose it.

It is THE biggest home field advantage in sport, where in 81 games just the field alone can be responsible for turning 20 outs into 20 doubles from a single player with just warning track power. That can add up to 5 wins for the club and 5 million $ in an individual player’s contract.

Plus, it’s a dump. Been there many times. Terrible place to play and watch a game.

But don't let facts get in the way of a good story.
