Just curious what does your club offer, if anything, to help players improve during the winter break? Please reply with the following:
Age groups ; type of training ; free / paid
Example: Ages 13 - 18 ; 2 weekly training sessions ; paid
Club names are not necessary unless you want to include it.

One club offers futsal, and a few random camp style trainings. The other club offers outdoor training sessions from 6 to 12 sessions, as well as a preseason camp and multiple open play days. The futsal is girls specific but everything else is mixed coeds.

To my knowledge, absolutely nothing. Also, as far as we know we have an official break until late in January. However, nothing has been officially communicated to us so we really have no idea.

For those who actually have a break (not the girls teams playing at Disney) our club has "camps" and futsal available that usually cost about 120 for the 6 weeks of once or twice per week. Some coaches will often do optional winter training sessions at $15 per session (both my kids' coaches did that last winter).

After doing this for over a decade with kids who made it to D1, my advice is to let them take time off especially if the kid is over 13 years old. The high level leagues like ECNL (plus HS), DA, etc. turn into 10 or 11 month seasons. Let them rest or cross train playing another sport or work out. I think there are diminishing returns doing a several sessions during this down time period. Burn out is a HUGE factor as the kids get older. For every kid who may have excelled due to these other work outs I can give you 10 that either quit, hates soccer, or peaked and the extra sessions were of very little value.
It took me a few years for me to heed my own advice noted above!

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for sharing your experience and illuminating the need for resting and sometimes allowing the kids to just be kids. I know it's well intentioned, but many of us parents tend to think more is better and only end up doing more harm than good...

Looks like most have showcases this weekend and President's day weekend so there is no break before high school starts and even an overlap of several weeks for many girls. In this state it appears that DA gets a break whereas ECNL doesn't. I agree with your statement above in theory. I just think that many of the recent changes are making it so that there is no winter break. Then the summer break becomes more important...but depending on the team/league/club there can be no summer break either.

We did some light training but mostly other sports/activities.
