I do not know if anyone saw the last two friendlies these teams played, but there was plenty of cause for USA concern. Granted the USA have better quality than both South Korea (who's most exciting run in any international competition was significantly aided by referees when the WC was held in their very own country) and Ireland. But Ghana and Portugal looked pretty sharp offensively. I guess USA hope lies in fact that both of those teams also looked vulnerable on back line. I do not see USA defenders being able to match pace of their first 2 WC opponents. They better be organized and disciplined along back. They better be able to keep the ball (not optimistic here, but I can hope). They better convert on a high percentage of counters. I could see both of these games being high scoring affairs actually. Really, though, I am just happy the WC is here. Need the spouse to clear out some cooking and home repair shows from DVR so there is plenty of extra space!

yea, both should eat up USA's defense. lets just hope omar doesn't see the field, because if he does, it will get ugly.
