I had forgotten how few wins those teams had. That is why the sccl came about. They self relegated.

I can only see AFC dropping NPL in favor of SCCL because of travel. SCCL would definitely be less travel for them with how NPL is becoming spread out. Would it be possible for AFC to add SCCL & SCCL-P for their 2nd & third teams? Essentially first team would be NPL, second team SCCL-1 and third team SCCL-P? This would essentially be the same as the other clubs being DA/ECNL first team, SCCL-1 second team & SCCL-P third team. I don't know much about Ambush, but I do believe they would fit as an SCCL team, at least competitively. If AFC and/or Ambush are added to SCCL-1, I wonder how that changes scheduling. Would they increase the league to 10 teams and schedule flat (18 games per season)? Would they split the league into divisions? It's all very interesting to speculate about, and I will be interested to see how the league changes for Fall 2020. Doesn't SCCL make the club have a team in every age bracket? I'm not sure Ambush has the depth to field an SCCL-1 team in every age bracket, not without just promoting the Classic I or II/Athena A or B teams up. They don't have a Piedmont/NL team at each.

I had forgotten how few wins those teams had. That is why the sccl came about. They self relegated. 1) there were plenty of non-SCCL teams that had fewer wins 2) pathetic to call 7-9 game schedules "a season" You can tout your new and improved NL all you want, but you wouldn't even have that improved league without the formation of SCCL. The big clubs' exodus was the impetus for change. I know that the splitting of teams and leagues is making everything crazy and you don't like it, but to take potshots at those teams, which were KIDS playing the game they love is low. I should expect it from you by now, but I still find your behavior abhorrent.

Yep, the big 5-6 would have teams relegated and other big 5 teams would take their place. There were typically at most 1-2 smaller clubs in the R3PL brackets (Inter a lot because they are #8 in size).
The big 5 pulling out of the USYS logistical nightmare (as many have called it) made it so there little clubs could have a turn. It's a win-win for everyone except GA Soccer as an organization (less $$).
Not sure why the animosity toward the big 5 (now 6) and the SCCL.

Agree with what you say but then on the flip side the big 5 should focus on themselves and stop trying to alter state cup by filling their 3rd or 4th level teams with their players on us club teams.

NTH Boys will participate in the SCCL Summer League but not the girls. Tryouts for Tophat girls were scheduled for March 1, but on Feb 28 they sent and email, “Our girls program, Tophat, will not be participating in the SCCL Summer League for the summer of 2020.“
Kind of surprising. No explanation given.

Go on a non soccer related vacation or if you want to stay engaged in soccer go to soccer camp instead

I would suspect other summer training programs they have planned (announced or unannounced) will conflict.

You can call it whatever you want. Super Y died because higher level Players didn’t play. SCCL won’t be any different. I don’t understand why they started this. Just because it has a new name, it is still the same clubs and same pool of people in our area.

I didn't think this would be all that successful. Why would they assume more people want to do this than Super-Y? Like soccerfutbolfam said, as they get older, the better players generally skip summer ball. This league should be primarily focused on the younger ages. But for the clubs that DO participate (I imagine 3-4 clubs on the girls side from 07 up, they need to schedule 6-8 games, even if it means playing a team 3 times). Then have tournament mid-July to play for a medal.

You also have nationals for the teams that win. But then that is in late fall/early winter which makes no sense (unless you are playing with the team you play with for club) I don’t see SCCL summer as anything more than - helping younger kids and giving clubs a valid reason to start talking to kids outside of their organization before the approved time for tryouts.

They should do 7v7 for all ages on a smaller field... more touches, hopefully less heat stress

I like the 7v7 league idea. I've seen high school kids do it. Plus it incorporates goalkeeping like indoor/futsal (use U10 or U12 sized goals).

I've always thought that the summer should be a break from soccer (well, organized leagues at the very least).
But Super Y, SCCL, come along and feed into that "keeping up with the Jones's" mentality. I've inquired with others about why they are doing it... and it usually includes "well... player X, Y, and Z are doing it" or "we are hoping the next years coach will see our player and their dedication". Then their is the "it will get more touches on the ball" aspect, but you can get that doing camps or 3v3 tourneys or even practicing at home or with friends.
It's hard to resist when you see others doing it and you're afraid your kid will fall behind. We tried it one season with one of our children and they didn't enjoy it much at all. Lesson learned on our part.

My issues have been once your kid is on a DA team or playing in post season tournaments (like regionals before etc) -- you then end up with very little time off, and really only the month of July off.
kids basically play now aug - june... It is ok to take july off! be a kid, swim, play tennis, doing something else with your life!

DA was initially supposed to offer 10 months of playing, but in looking at the end dates for the showcase/playoffs for both the Boys n Girls: Boys: June 21st for the showcase and July 12th for playoffs Girls: June 26th for the showcase and July 12th for playoffs That means should you be lucky enough to go deep into the playoffs, you could be saddles with just over 3 weeks off before you're back at it the first week of August 😱😱

Personally I wish it was a mini summer league of 3v3 tournaments instead It's a shame that there aren't a ton of 3v3s throughout the summer anymore - there used to be one almost every weekend, and they were a blast for the kids.

I really hope that the SCCL Summer League is great! So far, SCCL has put out good products in it's young existence...Obviously time will tell.

When my older one did it, it seemed like the kids were less stressed about results and played more for fun. The little one is doing it more for the training...really good coach.

I remember playing against the Internationals, an ECNL team from the Midwest in the Super Y Finals in Florida. Actually it was my daughter playing.
