Hate, hate, hate this move! Don’t understand unless we were just so far off on the money he was asking for. Even then, think you gotta do everything to re-sign.

Maybe they know something that we dont. Gressel has been a great contributor for ATLUTD... We will miss him. He was a little one dimensional though. Even though the one dimension was really good

Hardworking utility player that you know is good for 90. I believe most appearances for any Atlanta United player and clearly a fan favorite and a former college player He wants to get paid, and clearly AU didn't' want to pay him.

Even though the one dimension was really good I completely agree, no one could sling that ball into the box better. He was a so so 1v1 defender and sometimes struggled to track back when used in the defensive back-line. I'm just glad he wasn't traded to the rumored TFC to help resuscitate Josie and the wussycats...

I'm ok with this move, reserving final judgement to see what other moves are made. Fan favorite but defense was suspect at times.

Word is his salary will bump from $114,000 base to $700K+ for four years (might have additional options). Sounds like there is something fishy with MLS rules, that wouldn't allow Atlanta United to use their own TAM money to "buy" down his cost to the team. I don't know the details of this, but read it quickly last night (could be wrong...)
For 2019 Gressel had the 4th most minutes on the team last season for a field player. Robinson, Nagbe, Pirez, then Gressel
Gressel was first on the squad with 11 Assists, Pity was 2nd with 7
Gressel was the 2nd leading goal scorer on the team with 6 goals, Martinez had 26 and Pity had 5.
Gressel led the team with crosses
Excluding Mo Adams, who only played 90 minutes, Gressel was 2nd on the team for Goals + Assists per 90 minutes.
For 2018 Gressel led the team in minutes played for all players and led in assists, and added 4 goals. Started all 33 games he played in.
Bottom line he basically was playing for free the past 3 seasons. Unreal productivity per $ spent.

Nagbe, LGP, Gressel, Parky... all need replacements.
This may be a rough year.

Oh geez! Losing Tito too?!? Makes me sad to lose so many players. I know that players move on, but it seems like it is happening faster at ATL than other clubs that I like.
