This is why SCCL will take over. Ga soccer held their second annual college ID camp in Roswell. Earlier this week they sent out an email claiming 16 colleges were going to be there from as big as GA Southern to as small as JUCOs. Well guess what reality was? Only TWO colleges were there on the girls side. Yes, T-W-O as in 2!!! Not 16, but freaking 2!
Ga soccer is a joke. They are a bunch of incompetent clowns running a sinking ship.
The next time someone claims the big 6 is ruining soccer remember this.

It's not a binary choice. Both can be true. GA soccer certainly seems incompetent if true.

Wasn't really doubting you. It sounds like incompetence.

cleansheet Did you have to pay for this ID camp? I am sorry that happened to you and your daughter. Sounds like a wasted 4 hours except maybe getting touches on the ball in game like scenarios. A bigger downer for the kids there. I sent my kid to some ID camps last year with no actual intention of her getting noticed. Just did it for the experience of playing with unfamiliar players and being coached by other coaches. I suppose you could try to look at it that way. As a warm up for the real deal.

Could be the college coaches knew who were going to be at ID camp. Coaches know what showcases to go to and which teams to recruit from...

cleansheet how old is your daughter? I only ask because I find it perplexing that Georgia Soccer scheduled this for this particular weekend. Isn't this also the Georgia Soccer weekend with the ODP South Championships teams? I'm not sure what age groups are down in Florida but that could be a factor in their lack of planning, communications and execution for the "ID Camp" 🙄🙄

This is true, had 2 friends who players on National League teams went and they were disappointed in lack of preparation and execution of the event. There were only 3-4 coaches showed and actually 22 college coaches were listed today on their website. None of the bigger colleges listed showed up like Georgia Southern. Don’t false advertise is the take home message.

It's coming. Will be a bit sad, but it'll eventually be the Georgia independent clubs soccer leagues and look like the South Carolina Youth Soccer Association. Depending on what happens with SCCL this spring, the organization may be on life support next year. IAFC may be the biggest club still holding on.

Who is they?
ODP South Region 08-06 boys & girls championships were in Auburndale, FL this weekend. Bloody awful refereeing.
05 & 04-03 South Region Championships are in June.
Another region? Perhaps there was something else for the older age groups this weekend?

But only a few GA players were selected across the age groups.

Perhaps Georgia Soccer (and USYS) could fill a niche market by managing the relative age effect. Allowing players born after August 1 to play down an age group through U15. This would potentially help retain more of the talented younger late-year birthday players. Many of whom eventually quit the sport due to inability to compete with older players in their birth year and get pushed down to lower-level rosters (and get lower-level coaching). At least until they get to high school and are closer to their final build/size at U16.

Did ga soccer ever hire a new exec director? didn't greg retire/leave etc? State associations had a wake up call and chance to take a stand during the age group mandate -- not specifically about the age mandate, but in general about US Soccer being incompetent. Instead they did nothing except write a letter. I'm probably being too harsh, but get the entire south east together and figure something out. Its too late now without a complete overhaul of the US youth soccer system. US club has too much power now to give any of it up. come visit us at www.gacompetitivepingpong.com

... get the entire south east together and figure something out. No thank you. Please don’t add in the entire SE. I’m very happy keeping it to teams around Atlanta.
