Very interesting... but
this sentence makes me twitch.. average refers to an average.. then it talks about a max.

Doesn't refer to the level of the match either. Youth soccer is MUCH less.

Pretty sure the wicker basket was “basketball”.
And I haven’t seen too many deliberately oval soccer balls.
