From WSJ - can't link, behind pay wall. Some highlights:
Jay Berhalter, a longtime executive at the U.S. Soccer Federation, is leaving the organization after he was dropped as a candidate for the CEO position.
Berhalter, the federation’s chief commercial and strategy officer, will leave at the end of the month after a nearly 15-year career at U.S. Soccer. He has been praised for helping to improve the federation’s financial health and turn it into a fast-growing organization with an annual budget of more than $100 million.
In recent years, Berhalter’s tenure was marked by controversy. U.S. Soccer employees said he contributed to a “toxic” environment at the federation’s Chicago headquarters, with long hours and low pay, according to reviews on a job-networking site. A consultant surveyed federation employees in the wake of the controversy, and U.S. Soccer leaders pledged to improve communication and transparency. In December, Cordeiro called the reviews “a good wake-up call.”
The December 2018 hiring of Berhalter’s brother, Gregg Berhalter, as U.S. men’s national team coach spurred charges of nepotism from fans already frustrated by the squad’s shocking failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

I hope US Soccer starts to clean house and find some new executives to start a new culture there.
Good riddance!

I was briefly elated but now i'm deflated. In reading the title of this post, all I read was Berhalter out. For a second I thought it was Gregg Berhalter but sadly it was his brother. Back to my Berhalter fired vigil...

A question that requires a great deal of conjecture:
Think he was not considered because of the outcry over the nepotism accusations before, or is the "negative culture" cloud the reason, or is he simply not qualified overall?

I read that he is going on to run WC26 or some such opportunity of nepotism.

Berhalters and Reynas are also extremely tight as the wives were teammates and close friends at UNC and Claudio and Gregg were high school teammates.
But most jobs are obtained through an established relationship and a few of those connections are more obvious than others. And regardless of how someone gets the job, they do have to perform. So time will tell.
