February 11, 2020 Furman Product Walker Zimmerman Traded To MLS Newcomers Nashville SC Greenville, S.C. – Seven-year MLS veteran and former Furman defender Walker Zimmerman was traded from MLS’ LAFC to expansion side Nashville SC for $950,000 in general allocation money and a 2020 international roster spot, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon. An MLS All-Star and MLS Best XI selection in 2019, Zimmerman helped guide LAFC to the Supporter’s Shield in just its second season. The Lawrenceville, Ga., product was acquired by LAFC prior to its inaugural season in 2018 from FC Dallas, where he had played five seasons and claimed the Supporter’s Shield in 2016. Over his seven professional seasons, Zimmerman totaled 12 goals and made 140 appearances. On the international front, the defender has earned 12 appearances with the United States National Team and netted two goals. He was first called up to the national team in January of 2017 and just wrapped up winter training with the USA last month. Zimmerman played for the Paladins in 2011 and 2012 before being selected in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft by FC Dallas in January of 2013. After earning Southern Conference Freshman of the Year and All-SoCon honors in 2011, he garnered second team United Soccer Coach All-American accolades in 2012.

He could become a leader like parkhurst and legend with Nashville, but I have a gut feeling Nashville will not be taking the league by storm like Atlanta United did.
Wish he could have stayed with LAFC, currently the best team in the league.

Three clubs in eight years?? I’m guessing he isn’t the best locker room guy if he’s been easily shipped off as he’s aged.
