No one was selected from the 06 GSA team? I thought they had a lot of boys in ODP this year - a couple selected for international trips, etc.... Seems odd to me but I have no clue how all of that works.

Here is how, but really doesn't state how, given many of the younger age DA games do not have scouts -- I guess unless you are Atlanta United:
How can I sign my son or daughter up for a U.S. Soccer YNT Talent ID Center? Players are identified by our scouting network and invited based on their performance with their respective club teams. Players must first prove they can be successful in a competitive club environment before being invited. Recommendations from club coaches and directors are accepted at [email protected]
I have asked about half dozen coaches from different clubs and searched the internet for YNT scouts. The answers that I have received are: Almost all of the scouting is at DA level. There are some coaches at clubs that are scouts but can't scout out of their club (must send a recommendation for a player to be reviewed). Scouts for YNT are lazy and the process shows. These are some of the answers I received.
I have a child that plays at the ECNL level has been chosen for several big tournaments as guest player, leads with scoring and assists can play anywhere on the pitch and be influential. But, not being looked at in ECNL.
I am not willing to go any of the DA clubs or chase AU, so just letting him have fun until someone actually notices.

HS Teach/Coach: Well, only parents can put a stop to this nonsense of missing that many days. Club coaches DO NOT CARE! Totally agree with the parent who said missing a day maybe two, but 3 in one week is a bit excessive. If parents stop paying, clubs couldn't afford...

Realitysports: Hs soccer is a joke, perhaps that’s way ,many players committ to taking days off sense it’s a clear pathway and is worth the sacrifice I believe.

CC79: Is US Club or SCCL planning to do something with coaching education? I see nothing happening on that front unless is not the website.

REC: I don't know if it does. Many players enjoy the recreational level of middle school soccer because the look better within their comfort zone. It can be more fun than select.

slickdaddy96: Yes Middle and High School soccer is more fun because they get to play with their other school friends that play rec etc.... The competition is not as strong, and thus they can have more fun.

Champions League: We need more leagues than just SCCL with that name. It sells well even if it includes clubs or teams that never won anything.

hattrick07: This is our first year at ECNL, and maybe it's isolated to this coach? My hope is that it changes next year, because at this level, players need to earn their playing time.

atlfutboldad: hattrick07 Yeah, in tryouts, if they're not good enough to play, they're not good enough to make the team.

what a joke: "no rosters or numbers" ... they want to promote ONLY the players THEY want someone to see, NOT players that deserve to be seen.

atlfutboldad: @what a joke: Was this the Winter ID camp? How did they "promote" players?
