Can someone run down the list of DPL clubs in the South/Southeast? (a) current 19-20 (b) proposed 20-21 Is it (a) 1-PBG(Palm Beach Gardens,FL)-no GDA;no ECNL;no NPL 2-Tophat(Atlanta, GA)-has GDA;no NPL 3-USA/MP(Mt Pleasant, SC) no GDA;no ECNL;has NPL 4-Weston(Weston,FL)-has GDA; has NPL ?-*FC Virgina(Leesburg, VA)-has GDA;has NPL;DNP 2019/20 (b) 5-CSA (Charlotte, NC)-has GDA;has NPL 6-IMG(Bradenton,FL)- has GDA;has NPL 7-Florida Rush(Orlando,FL)-no GDA,no ECNL;no NPL 8-Unofficial:UFA(Atlanta,GA)-has GDA;has NPL 9-? ***updated with potential UFA*** Florida Rush was listed on CSA's website but it is not on theirs and I previously saw an announcement on DPL's page that listed IMG, CSA and Pinecrest premier but not Rush. Not sure if you can add them on until someone officially announces it that is in position to do so (DPL or Florida Rush themselves). I would asterisk them like UFA. Oh and Florida Rush has had some teams play NPL. They do weird things in Florida with their NPL. They also had teams in RPL when it existed. Know someone who played for their 05 team until this year.

So I just looked up to DPL results for the u15-17 Girls DPL brackets for this past season that only had 4 teams: tophat, mount pleasant and 2 Florida teams. In all of those brackets the 2 Florida teams were absolutely non competitive with an average record of 0-6-3 in their 9 combined games.
I would say that league had a long way to go.

Its definitely not what NTH hoped it would be I think. But it could be building.
IMO on the east coast it'll be equivalent to an ECRL (and some NPL's). I have no doubt that on the southwest coast its nearly equivalent to the mid-level ECNL, their population is simply too large.

I have a couple friends on the several of the teams, and they let me know that the showcase results are only seen on the showcase links. For example the u17 teams from Georgia have played 15 games this fall (9 conference + 6 crossover games).

I'll just never understand the need or desire for this league besides on the boys side for the u16 age group.
I'll take that back, maybe in some areas of the country where there isn't enough local competition, but that isn't a problem in Atlanta. Or maybe I'm naive and it is a problem that the 2nd teams at tophat can't get good enough local competition week in and week out? --
I'm sure this was discussed, are DPL teams/girls playing high school soccer? Would be interesting if we ever found out how many girls playing DPL this season make a DA roster next season?
I'm a dreamer....

Ignoring the U16 year on the girls side, probably not a lot in the other age groups. NTH DA is doing well. The only reason to shuffle is if DPL players bloom and out-play the returning DA players. The other case could be girls deciding they're not all about/burning out on the DA structure (it happens in ECNL also).

Ultimately this league came about from the clubs in California that ECNL shunned for putting their top team in DA and 2nd team in ECNL. So to keep the revenue and talent at their clubs the teams created their own league. As it turns out as ECNL keeps expelling clubs the DPL league has more potential clubs. Now the vision of the league is expanding. Yes the girls in DPL can play high school...

As I have previously posted the California DPL teams can play with anyone. Plus the other advantage whether it was Tophat or DPL not sure (Mt Pleasant was also placed in top bracket) but all the teams were placed in highest brackets at CASL and played against ECNL teams which meant they played at WRAL fields where all the college coaches stayed. We had upwards of 50 or 60 coaches watching our games there.

I would say out of the 21 games total my daughters team played in the fall that about 13 to 14 were competative. They just happened to win most of them. Even individual games with the two florida teams were more competative than what you would expect from an ofer team. This is about on par with my other daughters npl team at ufa.

The thing though every league has teams that are not competative. Look at DA or ECNL and they have teams in their leagues getting slaughtered as well.

As the creator of this thread could I request that we stay on topic? I simply wanted opinions on whether people thought our club would get DPL or not. I'm now having to read arguments back and forth about teams out of state.

As the creator of this thread could I request that we stay on topic? I simply wanted opinions on whether people thought our club would get DPL or not. I'm now having to read arguments back and forth about teams out of state. I just had heard rumors about UFA getting it. Nothing concrete. But FG said it and she has always been in the know about UFA. While nothing is sure until you see it in writing from your club, hearing FG say it put it to a near certainty for me. From a 25% chance based on rumors to over 90% chance because of FG saying it. The next question is...do they run it out of Fowler? My guess is yes. Do they drop NPL? No idea. Maybe they would have it as an adjunct league...What will the new pyramid look like? Also while I respect that you want to know about UFA, it is relevant to know who else is in so I don't think the other clubs is off topic.

DPL would surely go to Fowler as its supposed to be the "developmental league" to GDA.
IF they keep NPL, maybe Norcross goes to NPL. If so, IMO, UFA girls will get demolished in SCCL and SCCL-P and below.

League possibly could add more consistency to a schedule then NPL, but someone mentioned this:
Personally I think adding DPL looks bad on UFA leadership -- you make this move to all NPL, and now your saying it's not good enough. The kids are just being guinea pigs as new leagues are created for nothing.
Different but the same -- it's not good enough for the girls but is for the boys? which is it?
Wonder if DPL also allows more money to stay within the club vs through US Club soccer. I bet DPL player fees will be higher --- higher level always equates for higher fees at UFA.
Sorry not buying anything they are selling out of Forsythia. This also will hinder norcross even more. TPDL

Then NPL lost a bunch of teams, and it's not the same as how it initially looked. That's not on UFA.

Dumb Parents League- you’re a sucker if you buy into a league like that.
But I heard the same thing over the weekend- UFA is getting DPL and coaches have begun recruiting parents at neighboring clubs

DPL is an outgrowth of the lack of vision by the Federation related to DA. Let me explain.
Once upon a time, the Federation created DA for boys, but ignored girls. Hence, ECNL came along and had teams for each age group from u14-18. ECNL, like DA, was limited to specific clubs in each state. After several years of ECNL success, DA decided that although US woman were the world powerhouse, they needed to control the girls' youth game as well. Hence, they tried to hi-jack ECNL which ECNL respectfully declined. That led to girl's DA. Without any foresight of the changing landscape in youth soccer, DA did girls DA like they had done boys DA. In effect, DA boys has joint age groups playing together such as 02s/03s. With boys, this was not an issue because there was no strong competitor to DA and so, assume the 02/03 team had 18 roster spots but 36 good players, when 18 boys in the "younger" group couldn't make the 02/03 team, they would play the off year on the DA club's RPL team. Then. those 18 boys would return to the 02/03 DA team the following year. as the older boys.
For girls, if an 02 couldn't make the 02/03 team, initially, at least for TH and CF, they could go to the club's ECNL team for that year. However, ECNL wised up and told clubs to choose DA or ECNL. CF choose ECNL because it didn't want to boot 18 good players to the curb and also worried about sustainability. In effect, if 18 02s leave one year, what is the chance they return the next year for the 02/03 DA team? Especially if they get a taste of playing high school?
As a result of this joint team quagmire, DA added one more age group but still doesn't have a team for every age group. Then, realizing the bleeding continued, has now created DPL thinking this is a way to keep those 18 kids in the club during the one joint year.
In sum, DA has maybe 1 more year to get this right. Otherwise, DA clubs, especially in GA, will have NO depth. As I have noted before, if you are the #11-18 kid on a DA team, why risk not making the DA team one year and then get banished to this uncompetitive/disorganized DPL team? Rather, why not head to ECNL club and also get to play high school? My prediction, DA caves on the remaining points of its mission statement and has teams for all age groups and allows high school play. These guys play checkers and don't ever even consider there may be chess pieces on the board.

In sum, DA has maybe 1 more year to get this right. Otherwise, DA clubs, especially in GA, will have NO depth. Agreed, but not at NTH. People line up to chug the kool aid and as such they have more depth than any other girls club. Several of their 4th teamers could play on our 2nd team. DPL will have more travel than ECNL or DA. So hopefully UFA coaches are going to recruit parents with big checkbooks (again, NTH doesn't have to, they simply line up). In the end, exclusivity (in GA) will hurt this league. Most of the Southern California DPL teams are VERY close to each other (relative to Southeast DPL).
