"We swear, DA is the top of the youth soccer pyramid, everything else is below it."
Reminds me of the graphic GA Soccer put out 2 Springs ago placing SCCL at the same level as GA Soccer state leagues.
Girls ECNL is D1. Girls NPL is D2 (likely boys also). Oh the hubris. Once they acknowledge this, things can maybe start to get better. SCCL should have joined NPL (its in a gray area now).
Other than that, its not a bad attempt by USSF of trying to visualize the pyramid.

Looks to me like edu route (left side) is less complicated, less expensive and already has a system in place. They just need to work on the coaching side.

Ollie Sports says they created the graphic to help people understand the soccer pyramid in the US. So in this example the bashing of USSF isnt warranted... There are other examples though.

It still favors the USSF platform. I have no issue with it, they can keep thumping their chests while world cup qualifiers slip through their fingers.

This is interesting - and it raises a question that I have had for a while now. There are all of these pathways to being selected to "national teams" - DA, ODP, YNT ID Camps, ECNL/ID2 camps, etc.
I know that there are "scouts" out there and that coaches across all those orgs can recommend kids, but it must really complicate identification and selection to have so many pools to fish in.
Is what people have been complaining about in terms of not getting the best young stars into training programs?

No one really knows what or how the US Soccer scouts and selects players. I would assume it would be different for girls and boys. Secondly, I doubt they use all the camps/leagues mentioned above to find talent. (girls) The only thing I do know is in Georgia, it starts with national team camps for Georgia kids only staged in Georgia. How a player gets invited to that camp is a mystery to me. Even this process is changing for the younger girls anyway. You can read this article to learn more.

This is the main reason why very good players overlooked. I have seen so so many great talented players not even get a mention or chance. I would like to see USMNT U17/ U15 team that the "scouts" put together and have them play some club teams around the nation. I think it will open a lot of eyes and questions about the "system". Should be a year round filter system. NT should travel around and play DA clubs, ECNL clubs and others. That's the only way to get a true measure of team talent.

The answer is there is no pyramid. Just competing platforms.

Exactly - or have another scout or scouts pick there top 18 and have them go at it.
