SCCL is operating a lot more efficiently than any GA soccer league. I have a kid who plays SCCL-p and it is ugly ugly soccer, so that's why I care. In fairness, the soccer will only Get better when the kids choose to work on their craft by putting in more time on the ball, playing the game and definitely getting in 90 min soccer shape. Some SCCL-P games I have witnessed has been ugly ugly soccer. Some that I have witnessed have looked better than a few DA games I have watched before. I guess it all depends on the teams. With Promotion and Relegation hopefully the cream will rise to the top and the bad teams will drop down so that SCCL-P(1) and maybe even most of SCCL-P(2) look a lot better game wise.

Once you get past DA, ECNL, SCCL-1, NPL, and NL... you are talking about the SCCL-P teams being in the range of the 30th best teams in the state. Assume 17 kids per roster. On average, you are watching the 500th best kid in the state playing soccer. Probably best to manage expectations when watching these games. This is not a slight to SCCL-P. It just gets tiring when people say SCCL-P is ugly soccer (it can be). Or things get watered down when you get to Classic II (yes, it does). And are you surprised? Georgia doesn't have 500 elite soccer players at each age group. We probably have 100 though. Of course, those 100 are spread across five different leagues.

Could it be that SCCL/SCCL-P are running more efficiently because they are a) a much smaller number of clubs than GA Soccer and b) not a regional league like NPL South Atlantic or NL Piedmont Once SCCL-P opens up to more/all clubs and has pro/rel it will become GA Soccer Once ECNL Regional League and DPL expand to capture all the ECNL 2nd teams or actual DA 2nd teams, SCCL will be the third teams for those clubs, possibly fourth if one or both of NPL and NL Piedmont survive. This nonsense will continue to cycle and my guess is SCCL will be the next GA soccer in 5 years and then another US Club Soccer league will pop up and on and on. Blame club directors or League directors or whoever. We do it to ourselves.

Ha footyfan just beat me to it. SCCL will replace GA Soccer , then something new will come along in 2-5 years to replace SCCL --- we are in a vicious cycle -- while I do think SCCL is better ran than rpl/and GA soccer, we need a better solution nationally/regionally/locally. We are creating $3000 to $4000 rec soccer programs.

It doesn't HAVE TO become bad though, if its run by the clubs for the clubs. The problem (as I see it) with GA Soccer is the administrative bureaucracy that itself divorced from the concerns of the running of clubs.
If the SCCL becomes this kind of organization, clubs will be looking for an alternative.
Part of the problem as I see it with GA Soccer is that the organization tries to be equal for all clubs without catering more to its largest representatives (GA Soccer BRIEFLY tried to fix this a little with directional leagues at III/C, but quickly dropped it). Really, SCCL needs to be an organization with votes by club per the number of teams in the overall league (which will really become evident with SCCL-P heirarchy). That could lead to a LOT of mergers for strategic goals.
Well, all that and communication/transparency.
