It's boys and girls. I believe the non HS kids formed teams for the spring between SCCL, SCCL-P and I think some athena kids playing up. At UFA Forsyth I think they tried to combine girls from our scclp and athena b and it looks like they got 2 together but I haven't heard anything since our u15 is in hs.

Ok, thanks. My daughter plays at UFA Norcross and we weren't aware of any team from Norcross.
Does anyone know if there was an extra fee for the teams / players participating?

I would like to know more about it as well. This will involve my kid down the road. Do you know if there are any actual high school players on the SCCL teams for spring season that are doing both High School and Club, and does it cost more? I would hope not given that the clubs really don't give much of a break (if any at all) for U15 up when they only do half seasons to begin with.

Almost positive it cost more to play in the spring, and I don't think any HS players are playing in it(They wouldn't be able to practice at best with HS games and practices during the week). I'll ask around if nobody else knows for sure.

I think it was around $500 per kid at most clubs for the spring season, which is ridiculous. The difference at AFU between a U13/14 full-year tuition and U15+ half-year tuition was around $200 IIRC. $300 would make more sense. No comment on UFA though cause y'all's prices are nuts.

U15 is the Freshman year for most players. It is my understanding that the Spring season in SCCL for any team is optional based on if they had enough players to form a team. Remember most players girls and boys would prefere High School over club. So I would assume that the Tophat team didnt have enough players after the girls decided to play high school
Also almost all high schools practice 4 or 5 days in preseason and then between practice and games it is a 5 days a week sport. So there is not time or space to do club and high school.

This is the same thing the Georgia Soccer has done since the birth year mandate. It is not "SCCL" teams per se. I think this year the clubs in SCCL chose to do it through US Club rather than Georgia Soccer.
There have kids in the past that played both. Not sure how they managed it though. Last year the 04 B Premier team at UFA decided to play both.
The cost is usually around 400 to 500. I don't remember exactly what UFA charged since we did not intend to play.
I do know that this year at UFA for 05 girls Forsyth couple of premier players, several SCCL-P girls and the rest were Athena were the players that chose to play. I am sure that any girls from Norcross would be welcome should they have enough room.
The purpose of this was to help the 8th graders at U15 but in the past several 9th graders have chosen to participate.

Gwinnett County does not have middle school soccer. So I wonder if it’s more likely that AFU and GSA have U15 programs. Versus other clubs who draw players from other county or private schools.

Wrong. Gwinnett County has a lot of middle school soccer. There’s roughly 20 middle schools participating in the Gwinnett league. It all based on each individual school though.

Gwinnett County does NOT offer middle school soccer as an athletic team in the schools. There is a local tournament and a dozen schools who participate with their school CLUB. But it is not GCPS sport.
The purpose of the soccer club is to be used as a pilot program to get soccer as a sanctioned sport in Gwinnett County schools.

Honestly I wish that the county I was in didn't have Middle School Soccer, and then that would have allowed the 8th graders to play JV for the high school and already have their foot in the door for their 9th grade year, but the kids loved it at least at my son's school so I guess that is what it is all about when it is all said and done.

Agreed, Fulton doesn't allow it but Dekalb does(Dunwoody JV girls apparently has 9 8th graders on their team)

My only point being the excuse that kids are playing middle school soccer so there isn’t time or interest in a U15 season doesn’t work for my trapped 8th grader or 9th grader if they don’t make a JV team as a freshman )only one club player made JV last year as a freshman the rest were sophomores

Each school has to offer it. Obviously your kids school doesn’t offer it and you’re butt hurt about it. There’s an entire tournament each yeah devoted to the schools that field Middle School teams.
