Every club is emailing training instructions to all players. Then each club is swamping social media with kids training on their on in backyards.
The conspiracy theorists in me says club attorneys are going to say they kept instructing thus no refunds allowed for spring.
Thoughts? Take my money I don’t care, but don’t be so bad at hiding the truth.

Well one, look at your signing day information. I bet it says in extremely small print at the bottom, No Refunds. So technically the clubs don’t have to do anything to justify not doing refunds.
Second, that’s pretty smart thinking but it seems like it’s more about fighting the other clubs and showing potential new customers just how much they did to make their players better in what will be referred to as the Lost Spring.
Lastly, “club attorneys”? Haha nice one!
(Sarcasm and some truth used in this post)

Was anyone actually expecting a refund nearly half of the way through the spring season?

Lost Springs are the new norm for 8th and 9th grader teams already regardless, due to the age mandate anyway... It's just now... everybody feels what it's like. So, so stupid...
Edit: They never reduced the fees for it either.

Wouldn't expect a refund, and as long as they are paying the coaches, groundskeepers, etc. I don't think I mind not getting one. Would like to have a soccer infrastructure to come back to in the fall.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect a refund.
This is truly a "test" for our players. 1-3 months of no organized soccer. You must make sure they are training as hard as they would at practice. At least 1 full hour of hard training (if they didnt sweat, doesnt count).
Keep in mind coaches make extra money by doing privates. Has anyone incorporated a video session with the coach? Are coaches traveling to do private lessons?

I've seen clubs and coaches send home printed workouts. I've seen clubs putting videos together. I've seen clubs using TopYa, and recommending things like Beast Mode/Captain Elite/other train-at-home systems.
Honestly, I'm generally pretty cynical but I really think that everyone is just flailing around in uncharted territory. They're trying to figure out how to do the right thing, and nobody knows what that is yet.

I could see some people trying to make a case for a refund since we really only completed 1/3 of the Spring season. However, I am sure there is a Force Majeure clause in the contract we all signed, which this would fall under. So, each club isn't obligated to refund money at this point.
I do have to agree the main reason each club is so public with what they are doing is probably to try and attract future players to the club.

I wouldn't expect to get any refunds unless they are for travel that isn't taken.
and I wouldn't want a refund for my coaching fees -- I want my coach to still get paid!!!

Are coaches traveling to do private lessons? I am aware of one coach/private trainer who offered to come to people's backyards to train the kids. Problem for us is that the back yard is useless for anything except close control dribbling. Can't even pass because if there is a miss hit and the ball goes over the fence it is bye-bye to the ball permanently.

Here is my solution to the kids getting out of the house, playing soccer and the clubs not having to entertain any refund discussions:
