Wow. Companies all over the country are helping where they can with manufacturing supplies, some companies have chosen to keep people on payroll during this shutdown, yet the Jefferson Cup seems oblivious to empathy.
Bad look

What if your team is supposed to be going to Nationals out west in that same month?? LOL That's crazy to try and make this up over the summer. If they fell they HAVE to make this up... make this up in the fall when teams are set and back in the swing of things. I understand, that it sucks for them, but are ALL tournaments that were affected now going to reschedule as well? It would make for one busy summer !!

If the COVID slows down enough for normalcy during the summer, my kid will be at camp leading up to this revised Jeff Cup schedule and had planned an ID camp at the same time as Jeff Cup. It is ridiculous to expect people to rearrange summer plans for a tournament that was canceled due to extenuating circumstances. I think it is great that they are trying to reschedule it, but to give no refunds (either way) is absurd! And to plan in summer is also not appropriate in part due to the other nationals and other showcases etc that would be going on at that time.

Seems like they are basically stealing money -- wow, even if the event never takes place they are not offering refunds.

Some of those are late enough that teams are already training for NEXT year

As bad as the highlighted statement is, I thought this was more telling "All accepted teams will have the opportunity to participate without any additional entry fee." What, did they actually consider re-charging accepted teams. I think if enough teams around the country can make this go viral and push all players, parents, grandparents, friends and foes to blast them on FB/IG/Twitter, they might yet rethink this course of action. There is power in what we the parents aka customers can do...

I was going to say the same -- If I was upset about this, start a twitter/fb conversation questioning this decision about lack of a refund.

Agree with both of you... if someone will post the contact info, petition, FB, Instagram once it happens... I will add my .02 cents. Does anyone know of any other tournaments that are doing this??

Jefferson Cup has a reputation as a top tournament but it's surprising they would risk ticking off their customers and likely cause customers to not attend in the future. Especially the many out-of-state teams that go there regularly. It's hard enough to justify taking an academy age team to Virginia in normal circumstances. This idiocy by the tournament (Richmond Strikers) will come back to bite them.

This is crazy to me considering the governor of Virginia currently has the entire state in a “stay at home” declaration until at minimum June 10

I have no dog in the fight, but you don’t mess with my Georgia soccer forumites
If they already paid the refs for the weekend we missed - I’ll give them a pass....
