Says games could resume May 9 and extend into June.
Many have asked about a refund. They will determine that later.
See their social media outlets for PR.

I think that is unlikely now with schools out for the year, but who knows? Maybe the shelter in place and kids out of school will improve us enough for safety by then. Hard part is that the testing backlog is many days (possibly as much as 10) so that makes our tracking horribly inaccurate.

I'm guessing they have been talking with other clubs then? ... because they have to play someone, right? and they would all have to be on the same page for May 9th... otherwise, this is just wishful thinking like the rest of us.

Hate to be the Debbie but i dont think in any way that we will start back up by then. I think they just have to put something out to clam the parents but going from ZERO groups of people to hundreds in 30 days isnt realistic.

It would have more legs if this was coming out from others within the big 5/6 as well. As it is, this sounds like one persons dreams.

If I recall correctly, GSA stated in a recent update that they are still hopeful of being back on the fields in May. They also mentioned they need to wait for everything to play out before making any decisions on refunds. However, in a more recent email they seemed to be laying it on thick as to why refunds either won't happen or won't be very much if they do happen.
My guess is if any clubs offer refunds, it will be in the form of a credit on future programs.

yeah. I understand people wanting refunds but think of the coaches. They have to be hurting. Such crazy times.

yeah. I understand people wanting refunds but think of the coaches. They have to be hurting. Such crazy times. I asked one of our kid's coach and they said that they were getting paid for March but not sure yet about April or May. Said they are doing three times per week video meetings. Also doing online coaching modules and doing player reviews and reports to prepare for tryouts (whenever that might be). So they are working from home for now. I would think that partial refunds might be appropriate but that would likely hurt the coaches financially and that would be unfortunate. Possibly the teams could take up a collection for the coaches should that happen and they get partial refunds. But there are a lot of people hurting financially...

I said this earlier -- 100% do NOT refund any coaches fees -- that should be kept to pay coaches accordingly.
its acceptable to refund travel fees for events not traveled to and then one would think any fees associated with field rentals -- given the parks are all closed. Makes sense for some amount of fees to roll over as credits towards the fall.
This is why it would be nice to always see the breakdown of where your fees go? For example if fees are 2k approximate $1,000 to coaches $100 to administrative registrations $100 for field rentals $100 for referees $100 for insurance $100 for summer camp $100 for performance, speed and agility training $100 for........

Not UFA, but we told our coach if the club didn’t take care of him that our team would. He‘s doing a great job with our virtual soccer as well. 🙂

Haven't heard a word from our coach. Doesn't surprise us since we didn't hear a word over the winter break either. Our thought at this point is if we get an evaluation by the end of the year it will be a surprise (we didn't get one at the end of the Fall season).

Our thought at this point is if we get an evaluation by the end of the year it will be a surprise (we didn't get one at the end of the Fall season). Honestly, not sure who your coach/club is and really not trying to give a dig, but we as parents, why do we allow this kind of bull? In any other service related industry we wouldn't stand for it, but in Soccer we bite down and take it. Honestly, if you don't feel you're getting what you paid for and as long as you can step back and make sure you're being rational, you should demand better. If nothing else, the leadership should be made aware. I'm not an advocate for getting refunds from the clubs, as this is an unprecedented situation we're in, but at least the coach should be reaching out, sending videos(hell I'd even take You-tube videos), sending tactical assignments? There are clubs uploading these types of virtual/online soccer solutions free to the web. Okay, sorry for the rant, but these are the types of coaches that make it difficult to quieten down parents asking for refunds...

Okay, sorry for the rant, but these are the types of coaches that make it difficult to quieten down parents asking for refunds... I agree with everything you have said here. The club has created and sent videos for the general club population, but we haven't received anything specific from the coach. The club has even said all videos are not intended for all players. Instead the player should concentrate on the videos & drills as specified by their coach. I know I have made comments in the past to higher ups at the club about the lack of coach communication, but it obviously has not made a difference. I do believe others from the team have done the same, but I cannot be 100% certain of that.

I can shine some light here. What you said is 100% correct. However - the coach has a LOT of power over the kid if they're someone who wants to advance and play at a higher level. People are afraid to piss off the club/coaches too much because of retaliation. It's really that simple.

UFA is doing the right thing here though, just trying to keep constant communication going. I personally do not thing there will be another organized soccer game until best case scenario June.

Also hearing that the local pro youth club is also thinking of coming back in early May. Had originally planned on returning in late April but punted due to the Governor's mandate...
