IMO here in ATL there is little reason for much travel outside of showcases and playoffs. The soccer competition around the city is much better than what is outside of the state in most cases. ECNL and DA are both pay-2-play. College coaches going to come to see the most competitive teams regardless of the league that's playing.
Other sports athletes get recruited to college i.e. Basketball, Baseball, football, tennis, swimming, and track all through high school why is it soccer so different?

Basketball doesnt recruit from highschool primarily anymore... They recruit from AAU and now the EYBL...
I will let the forum answer the other questions...

Football is the only sport left that recruits primarily from high school

I've always drawn the same conclusions about ATL soccer.
As for the High School sports, I think it may have to do with the coaching (hit or miss there) and soccer being a team sport vs most of the others you mentioning being individual sports. Basketball has AAU to promote players and you only have to collect 5-7 players to make a great HS team. Football is the true exception, and even they are starting to do more 7-on-7 tourneys, camps, and stuff outside of HS now.

Football is the last HS sport that matters for college recruiting.. maybe occasionally baseball or basketball, but rare. Basketball? AAU, Nike leagues Baseball/softball has clubs like we do. Tennis is crazy - those kids go live at residential camps. Swimming is also club heavy. I don't know squat about track.

Yes, I see, I figured as much everything is commercialized and marketed now.

Yes, I see, I figured as much everything is commercialized and marketed now. Yes it is commercialized now. Hard to say which is the chicken and which is the egg. Even track has a club season, but in any individual sport that has a measurable, objective result you could be seen anywhere...high school, club meet, etc. All other sports except football are based on club seasons for recruiting. The teams you play against matter. Quality vs quality is important. Quality on your own team as well.
