Just a guess, no insider info. Thoughts?

There was supposed to be 2 more announcements after AFU. Roswell and Ambush would do it. But Also AFC is a member of the "summer" league.
I'm a bit surprised by Ambush TBH. On the girls side do they even have 2 teams per age group?

Yikes, so I could see SCCL wanting to grab another club from Georgia Soccer but I bet Ambush would have accepted SCCL premier

On the girls side pretty sure they don't have 2 teams per age group at the SCCL age group levels. They had 2 NL/Piedmont teams(U19 4 wins and U15 1 win) and the others were Athena A or B but their U17 team is very good.

Girls side is typically one team per age group at U13 and up while the boys have several. Older age girls do very well down to the U13 girls who looked like they would win the GPL league this year. Ranged from NL/Piedmont to Athena B. As a smaller club they didn't have access to the high level leagues the bigger clubs cultivated. I would expect their results to be up and down the board. Some of the boys teams should be very competitive I would imagine.

I found this communication from the Ambush website:
Ambush Members,
The Alpharetta Ambush Soccer Club along with the Alpharetta Recreation Parks and Cultural Services is happy to announce a league change for Ambush soccer teams (U12 to U18/19). Beginning with the 2020 Fall season, we will change from the Georgia Soccer Leagues we’ve traditionally played in over to the Southeastern Club Champions League or SCCL as many of you know it. A tremendous amount of due diligence and planning went into this decision. The ultimate goal is to provide value with all of our programs. We believe the transition to the SCCL will accomplish this. In the most recent 3 years, several of the top programs in our area had partially left Georgia Soccer to join other leagues like the SCCL. The Fall 2020 will bring even more transition of teams to other leagues. This inevitably has increased the amount to time, money and travel to games for many of our select teams. Our new affiliation with the SCCL will allow us to better offer competitive games in a more local format providing short , medium, and long term security for our club. We will not leave Georgia Soccer entirely. Our Academy, Jr. Academy, and Recreation level teams will all still be registered under the Georgia Soccer umbrella and enjoy the great offerings provided for those levels of play.
The SCCL was established in the Fall of 2018 by some of the largest clubs in Georgia. After several years of participating in games that were not up to par competitively and also required increased travel, these clubs formed the SCCL to solve these issues. After two years of success which included starting a sister league in South Carolina, the SCCL is expanding in the Atlanta area. Ambush are proud to be one of the first clubs to join the SCCL beyond the original members.
“With great pleasure, Alpharetta Ambush Soccer Club proudly accepts a place in the SCCL top flight joining the best of the best in players, coaches and administrators.” said Doug Yearwood, President Ambush Soccer Club . “We could not be more excited to join one of the most dynamic youth soccer leagues in the southeast.”
The SCCL will have a Top Flight where Ambush Soccer Club will place one team in each age group for competition in the Fall 2020. SCCL will also have a Premier Division of three different levels that all have a promotion/relegation component. The Ambush White and Grey teams will be placed in one of the SCCL Premier Divisions.
The ARPCS and Ambush staff will immediately begin work on additional information in regards to participating in the SCCL starting in the Fall 2020. This is an exciting opportunity for our club and one that will launch us into the future on very stable ground. Please see the Q&A page under Programs > SCCL on the Ambush Soccer Club website for more information.
In the meantime, Stay Home, Stay Safe, Stay Positive, and Stay Healthy. We hope to see you at Webb Bridge Park in the very near future.

So this would make it 11 clubs in SCCL, excluding AU. 20 games? Or is there something about BUSA and VHSC we don't know about yet?

I good with Ambush joining the SCCL system on the whole, mostly because Ga Soccer is dying and this is where all the teams will eventually wind up. But I think it was a bad idea to add them to the top flight (SCCL-C, as some call it). I don't think they have the depth of talent and will bring the quality of the league down some because of it.
I'm not trying to be critical of Ambush, it's not their fault that they don't have enough top level players, they are a smaller club.

This will particularly hit UFA, AFU, and Concorde North very hard as they Ambush would lose a lot of top players after Academy to these clubs, now they’ll only lose those ECNL caliber players.

I agree that Ambush should start in SCCL-P-1 and prove their worth. But if they don't do well, its possible they could get relegated. Roswell had the props to go straight to SCCL with their first teams.
