I hate to break it to you but Concorde U9 North Black team has always had a “Beast of a team” from many different coaches in the last 7-8 years. “Competitive” Parents have been driving longer distances for their extremely competitive kids to Concorde to play on the top team. Just ask where they are driving from. Next season they will take newer players and so forth. Hope your child stays on top or else he will not get the attention or development he deserves for the $ you pay. Sorry, it’s my humble opinion, that you are a tool for this already marketing club even at age U9. Concorde does great with winning at all costs but for U9 to U13 it should be about development and not wins. Oh Lord, did all this really need to be said? C’mon man, quick rule of thumb should tell you a sentence starting with “sorry, it’s my humble opinion” and proceeding to call someone else a tool puts the mirror directly in front of your own face. This thread has become tiresome. Agreed, I’m tired as well. I left out “marketing” . I’ll edit.

love this forum. U9 soccer? Not about winning at all. If you happen to be on a winning team great, but it doesn't always equal development. Maybe some will under a winning team environment but not all. Plus, its U9 soccer. The road is so, so long. ANYTHING can happen. I have two dogs in the fight. One player is a U7G player and its amazing that she LOVES the game. I miss that. I miss the unjadedness (not a word but it is now). I know this is part of the development process, the politics, the competition, the favoritism, the pressure, the up/down of this great game. The other is in a different phase of the development process. Still LOVES the game, but is battling everything they had to in every practice. I mean this is part of development. Once you are at some levels, everything you battled through during your younger playing career you battle with those things daily. So I'm all for not being on the winning team, I'm all for failing!! Fail, fail fail. You are only going to get better. And if, if you do make it to College or Pro, all that failing will make you a better person/ player. Stay humble. Oh BTW. Ryan Austin is an amazing coach. (not a paid endorsement

My older child says this about the younger one. Fears that the lack of failure will result in less resilience and less fire! The older one feels that the failures inspire determination. Scratching and clawing your way up makes you appreciate it more.

The only true failure story is when you quit! Everything else is about your story to success. I would argue that is the problem with our US youth national teams. We have a bunch of kids who are really talented who have no idea what to do when they get punched in the mouth. It's never happened to them and so, while they look like Messi and Hamm against the DR and similar teams, they have no grit against tough competition.

Yep. So true. As a parent, we have to embrace failer. Motivate your player and help them navigate the importance of it. This will be huge when the time comes, on or off the field.

For those of you who are not fully happy with with your club, team or even a coach, I really wanted to give kudos to this team and their coach Nick Luscre. My son plays for Concorde and over the last year I have witnessed how this team under Nick's guidance has transformed into winners and smart players. Nick's personality and coaching style are what in my opinion soccer coaching and youth soccer experience should be. Kids always get challenged and he ALWAYS thinks of new ways to elevate them to higher level. I just wish there was was a way to clone Nick and put him to coach in every club because I have yet to see a coach who is a naturally born educator who so happened to also be amazing in soccer. And btw, their team barely lost a single games this season before covid hit and played against some of the toughest teams in Atl. And please don't start bashing me for promoting the guy, because all I am doing is recommending him to those who want to put their kid(s) in a different team environment (once this covid crap goes away) . Ask yourself, does your coach goes to bed every day thinking how to make your kid a better player? If the answer is yes, stay where you are,if not call concorde's academy director from North location and ask about Nick Luscre (he coaches u9 and u12). I think all coaches in this location are phenomenal and have some very talented kids but Nick L is so special that it is hard to compare him to anyone else. |u is like your own post?|

Good Luck Coach Nick!!!! My oldest started with CF North before JJ and finished CF North with JJ and got to see the glory years of that location, I'm glad it's still alive after the troll Gailey left and took players and coaches to Milton.
And yes, I can tell you stories that would make you throw up in your mouth and some to make you cry like a baby in regards to youth soccer.
However, keep it positive, keep it real and keep the fire burning in those young boys. When kids just want to go outside and juggle, bounce it off the wall or play street ball to ease their "soccer fire" it's a beautiful thing. Also, remember this, those boys will look at you as the greatest thing since sliced bread so be careful with your words and actions because they carry so much weight with a youngster with stars in their eyes. Be honest with them and their parents, when winning begins everyone will have their eyes on the shiny object which will make decisions at tryouts that much harder.
As far as the mother ship, take what the brass tells you with a grain of salt because in the end they only look out for themselves and their chosen ones and know at u13 they want all good players playing out of Central, most of the time without you.
