Did anyone from other clubs get something similar? This came via UFA yesterday. I assume this would just be a way to get the players back in the groove prior to tryouts probably late July? I'm glad if they do this.
Within the overall plan for a Summer Season for Recreational and Competitive players, we will work towards our mission of providing what the community has enjoyed for these 10 years at United Futbol Academy.
Look for information coming out soon that will include:
Recreational Summer Season-no fee
Recreational Camp: 1 week camp-no fee
Academy and Select Summer Season-no fee
Academy and Select Camp:1 week camp-no fee

I think that it is a nice idea. Many kids will be super excited and sometimes it is nice to have an organized thing to do in the summer. What about summer plans though? My kids will be going to summer camp for 2 weeks if COVID backs off enough to allow for it or something else changes with testing and treatment. What about the older age groups? They lost something this spring too. They lost Jeff Cup (though apparently they plan to do it in July) and end of the season state tournaments or SCCL cup. They also lost the college showcase event that they put on in May. It wasn't clear if there was something for all age groups. What about the SCCL summer league? Is that still on?
I appreciate that UFA is offering free summer programming. I appreciate even more that finally some sort of communication was released after a month with no updates to parents. I still have more questions though.

I know.
It does say Select also so I assume that's the older kids? I assume this is just the way to get them ready for tryouts.
Does everyone seem to think tryouts will be late JUly?
Hopefully it will be more than just skills. A few friendlies with other clubs who will be doing the same thing would be nice.
But we are just thankful to be able to get out there and smell the fresh air:)

U13 and U14 is also select.
UFA Forsyth has tryouts posted for the usual time. I don't know that it will happen then though. There is too much uncertainty. I do know that the coaches are being selected for teams next year on the regular schedule at at least two clubs. They are dealing with that now.

Does everyone seem to think tryouts will be late JUly? GSA is opening signups for tryouts on Friday (May 1), and have stated tryouts are tentatively planned as usual (end of May for Academy & first week of June for Select). I'm not positive that will happen, but I am thinking they will happen earlier than late July. I have also seen where both AFU & GSA are stating they hope to still have a summer SCCL season starting on June 6. If tryouts are indeed in late July, games won't start until sometime in September. There are clubs who are on a new uniform cycle and every player will need to purchase a new uniform. It will take time for players to receive those uniforms, so games starting 6-8 weeks after tryouts is likely. With Georgia opening certain things already, I don't see outdoor activities being too far behind. Of course all bets are off if there is a spike in cases and we go back into lockdown mode.

Yes, there’s some thought we could endure rolling lockdowns until a vaccine comes along (or cases stop spiking of course)

Academy and Select Camp:1 week camp-no feeTwo weeks or so ago SSA sent out something talking about possibly extending the spring season into the summer. It was very vague, so it could be that they are just going to get who they can to play and it won't cost anything and it will be in place of any summer league that would have cost anything they had planned previously. With no spring soccer I know my son (SCCL) and daughter (rec) will play if they offer it when we would normally take the summer off for team/game play and just work on skills individually with camps or a personal trainer. I'm guessing the rec. league will likely be harder to get going than the Select/Athena/SCCL/ECNL leagues.
