We are looking at the options for coaches upcoming season.
Are there confirmed coaches for the upcoming season?
I saw GSA posted Rusty Staggs. Thoughts about him? They finished 11th place. Where do they practice out of?
Concorde Platinum and Concorde Premier 07’s - Both finished mid brackets. Are these going to the be same coaches?
GA / Tophat- any idea who the coaches will be for top two teams?
Thanks!

In regards to Rusty Staggs, IMO he is a really good practice coach but not very good during games. He doesn't seem to get much out of his players. He previously coached the 05 ECNL but was demoted as players & parents were not happy with his performance. He took the 07's and they did not do very well. IMO his best years are well behind him as a coach.
Concorde Platinum 07 is coached by Ashley Allen. He is an okay coach but his team did not perform well. He coaches his daughter on that team so whatever that is worth to you.
Concorde Premier is coached by Laszlo Halmi but don't know much about him. It is my understanding that this team is comprised of mostly SSA players but I could be (and probably am) completely wrong.
No info on the TopHat coach in this age group but I'm pretty sure if you ask around you could find out whatever you need to know.

Have you heard if the Concorde coaches are returning? I don’t see a problem with coaching your own child if they are CLEARLY deserving of a spot, but if it’s for logistics that wouldn’t sit well. Anyway I’m not interested in just an “OK” coach. Tophat seem to have great coaches but the players seem to dislike them all. I’ve heard terrible things about the culture.

Haven't heard that any of the current coaches for Concorde are not returning so the assumption at this point is that everything remains the same.
As far as TopHat it's truly a mixed bag (just like every other club) on wether the coaches are liked or not. I know people at the club that either hate it or they love it. The fact that they always promoted how they had National Team Players at the club and the assumption that they could get you in front of major college coaches drove a lot of people (who weren't already there) over to the club. With the collapse of DA though I'm sure you will see movement away from the club until they can find a way back into ECNL, which I wouldn't hold my breathe on that one for a couple of years. If I were you I'd contact parents on multiple teams and get feed back. Everyone knows everyone so it shouldn't be too hard to get info on all teams and coaches.

It would be helpful for parents and players if ALL the clubs posted the coaching assignments with credentials. From what I've seen - it's inconsistent across the board. I think for many parents, coaching is more important than the club itself. And prior to tryouts, it would be nice to know if the coaching style, and if their philosophy is a good fit. And as soccergirldad mentioned, having a coach with their child on a team might be a dealbreaker for many, based on the simple fact that every parent sees their kid as a superstar - regardless of whether or not it's true.

Yes!! Hence I said we are looking at coaches, not clubs. The problem is the clubs aren’t announcing so you have to go on hearsay.

I was told by a parent at TH they expected Kyle to stay with the 2007s but who knows if that is true? Ciedel coached the DPL 2007 so perhaps he gets a team too? They were told coaches would be done by last Friday.

Ciedel is a good coach over at TopHat. I would let me daughter play for him if it was an option.

Yes, the coaches were supposed to be decided by last Friday from that they were told. I dont know if they've been released internally at TH? I have heard nothing but wonderful things about Cediel. Never one bad word. And I have heard good things about Kyle too.

A few questions for you: Are you new to the area or does your daughter play for AFU ECNL as you have listed all top teams for 2007 other than Atlanta Fire ECNL? If new to the area welcome to the madness. If not new to the area and your daughter doesn’t play at AFU ECNL that would means your daughter is likely on a SCCL or Athena A team. If that’s the case with 2007 already having ecnl teams and now likely Tophat girls making ecnl tryouts even more intense the likelihood of making any of the teams you mentioned is less than 5% unless you have already been contacted by one of those coaches. The truth is most ecnl additions to an established current ecnl team are done well ahead of posted “tryouts”

GSA might be just as far, I don’t really know. I do not want to spend all that $$$ on shizatty coaching and would be fine with her playing SCCL is the coach is good. She did play ecnl last year.

While it might be OK with older age groups, 12, 13, 14 year old girls don't necessarily take to it very well. The GSA ECNL team will most likely practice out of the Lilburn location (95-99% chance) as they did this past year.

I had heard that the 05G didn't really care for Prentice and they didn't do very well, but his older girls did very well.

I remembered some posters talking him up from the Dacula days. Will see what happens with the 06s who were top of the conference this year.

I believe Judson had to 06 team that topped the conference this year. If Drew gets it let's see what happens.

I know he's not ECNL or anything, but a great coach is coach Claudine Dalle Siakam of UFA Norcross 05. Played in Cameroon, played CB at Clemson, defends his players to the refs during games and is repsected by all players because he is fair--he will call out his "super star" as well as a "backup". My own daughter, who gets about 75 minutes a game, gets called out when warranted. The girls know he is fair.
he also has the ability to see the other team's weakness and exploit that.
I know it's "only" SCCL, but if he gets 2 more really good players to go with the 10 new additions from last year, this team will be rolling.
My kid plays for him because of his fairness and because he played her position so knows how to make her better. She's turned down higher levels because of coaching.
The coach is the key.

That group of girls are extremely limited athletically compared to other 07 ECNL squads. The best 07 at GSA played with the 06 group. She was the best player on the 06 roster at GSA. I have heard positives about Rusty from some parents but I don't but have personal experience. ECNL girls practice at Lilburn

Anyone know about UFA 07G ECNL? I don’t, but I saw AFU posted Stephen George as the coach. Looks like he was the coach last year for u13.
