These are all great questions. Not sure what Georgia Soccer does anymore, but this would be a great opportunity for them to show their worth and leadership by meeting with or talking to as many DOCs to get a set of best practices under which tryouts and subsequent soccer activities can occur. This will in turn allow clubs to be immune from potential lawsuits and requests for refunds should your child unfortunately be infected with rona. You as the parent would then have the pertinent info to determine your level of risk. Do the rules n practices in place satisfy you, if not then you don't sign your kid up and have them do something else or take the year off doing privates. At the end of the day, parents have to think through the whole spectrum of what they are signing up for. In most leagues, there is some modicum of travel, be in regular season games, tournaments or showcases. Tough decisions... On this issue regarding resuming club soccer and attending tryouts, Im not sure you can find a better way to put it than the above post, . No matter what side of Rona/COVID-19 perspective one is, the reality is that it will go down as a very important and historic moment for everyone, just look at the number of lives and economic disaster its caused already. ITS REAL! Something invisible is out there taking lives and most are yet to understand at the same time we life must go on. Does not make sense to go forward without addressing it or carry on business as usual. At minimum, There needs to be proper protocols and info in place for the security, health and safety of players and clubs. This will allow everyone to be prepared and know how to adapt to the ongoing battle with whatever is out there infecting people. No need to lose the next messi or la masia academy to the rona/COVID-19 or whatever you want to call it. Bundesliga is a model to study what working and possibly emulate. Also a good time to reorganize US youth soccer model imo. Remove whats not working and keep what is.

I hope a lot of you know that tryouts already technically started. In some cases, it's already completed

Kudos to those that already did their tryouts over the phone/ virtually. That may be something to look into.
For those that answered yes, a few questions that come to mind: What is point of hosting tryouts in the midst of a pandemic? What is the rush? To see numbers? To build confidence within the soccer community that things are normal again? What would tryout even look like?
There could be valid reasons, but my point is that tryouts in may or early june is not a priority, there are better things clubs could be doing.
There are other options, like postpone tryouts or virtual tryouts.
Just throwing out a date with no plan is irresponsible.

One week away for the younger ages... any concrete messages from clubs? Listing times on websites only means so much

Additionally, I believe social distancing orders (among others) expire on May 31st - unless extended. Tryouts should be a go. So should summer league, but that's another post...

I appreciate this thread because it definitely brings up what most people are thinking about on this forum (at least I am and by the number of voters) however, responding to an issue that is not black and white as if it were (Yes or No) skews the opinions a bit. I bet most people are somewhere in the middle. Should be a 3rd or 4th option. Something like; will attend with reasonable social distancing and covid protocols? or its too early, I will wait to fall.
We are all ready for this thing to be over and glad we are seeing signs of things getting better. All that said, we still need to be cautious so it does not come back stronger in the fall when we all need soccer and a stable economy. We are still trying to understand what it is and how to deal with it, maybe its not even a virus and it was just our minds playing tricks on us.
As citizens, we need to pay attention to our leaders, DOCs and experts etc in times like these and they should be over- communicating and working together closely at this point. We should also be free to ask questions, concerns or even call people out for outright ignorance if necessary.

I agree. It is so much pressure for parents. You want to sign your kid up but don’t want to pay a bunch of money and lose it or only get part of it back and get nothing in return. But on the other hand you don’t want to not sign your kid up and then things turn around and they have no sport to do in the fall. Also, the constant not knowing how soccer games and practices are actually going to happen In a safe way. Without testing and contact tracing it is a crap shoot. Deep down I don’t see how fall will happen with another surge projected.

You're not far off... 226 total deaths under 60 (125 with preexisting conditions) 101 deaths without KNOWN preexisting conditions under 60 (72 UNKNOWN) 29 deaths with no preexisting conditions under 60 No because even if my kids get it and survive, I as a parent am older and have a higher chance of not bouncing back as quickly if at all. Also it is partly economic. Even though I am still working, It is uncertain what the future will look like with unemployment numbers still expected to climb higher.
