On the men’s side. Riggs field at Clemson seats about 5,000. NC State, UNC Greensboro, SC, NC State, UNC have similar facilities. Outside of that a few other ACC schools in the SE have similar size venues. Most are about the size of high school fields. For example, App States Stadium was like 5-miles off campus and connected to some county rec fields. Very small. Tiny.
Attendance is hit and miss. Easily 2/3rds or more nonpaying students. If coinciding with another sporting event there might be a little bit of a spike. I am a firm believer that Clemson soccer, and just about everyone else’s, number one source of meeting operating cost, outside of football revenue funding, are ID camps.
There are 9.9 scholarships per school on the men’s side (if fully funded). Typically 32 players on the roster. If they use 3-4 full scholarships on European players this leaves 0.2 scholarship per player. The school will make FAR more money on tuition the student athletes pay than the revenue produced.
