Been thinking about how much movement (up/down; NPL, ECNL, SCCL, etc) there may be this year for the kids. Our club has ECNL as top team then SCCL.
ECNL kids "paid" for a full year of soccer and as we all know we lost half of the season. The majority of that money has not and may not come back to the families.
I suspect that the majority of teams will remain the same within clubs. In many years we see the bottom 2 kids "drop" down and the top 2 gets get "called" up (within same club).
Just don't see that happening this year as much since we did not get a full season.

It would be nice if that was true, but my observation is that there is a ton of movement across teams/clubs - at least in my kid's age group. Would have hoped that all clubs could have agreed to let kids stay put if they wanted for a year, but I guess it wasn't to be.

There was no way that people were not going to have some intra-club movement because of the inter-club movement. With girls leaving NTH and others doing the standard club swapping that happens every year there is a domino effect. There is little upward mobility at most clubs happening at 07 and above because of the availability of top team players swapping clubs and solid second team players switching clubs to get a look because they aren't getting it at their own club or don't like the coaching or the teammates or something else like that. Most of the intra-club I have heard of in older age groups has been down. I have heard of a few up at NTH and UFA (though only 3rd to 2nd team at UFA so far) and a poster mentioned a couple at AFU.

Well.. as for the half year, remember U15 and up is only a half year anyway.
There's definitely movement.. not sure if it's more or less than most years (see the other thread about this). As for upward movement - sometimes you have to bounce clubs to get a fair shake.

From what I have seen, there is very little upward movement at clubs. Far more kids are moved down teams than kids that are promoted. It has been said many times on here but the best way to be promoted to a higher level team is to move to a new club. Clubs like the shiny new object more than being able to see that a lower player has improved and deserves to be promoted.
