Wow that is a good deal for UFA. Estimated annual cost of $1 per player using the field for practices. Guess the highest and best use for the sale took a stake through the heart with the COVID shutdowns.

Great news. Honestly the kids deserve it but understand it is private land.

I still think UFA should buy the land ...

Agree. Makes perfect sense and the property has huge potential.

I still think UFA should buy the land ... and actually make fields out of it. It's currently a horse field with soccer goals on it. Pretty rough. A grader and some fresh sod, and it would be a great facility.

A grader and some fresh sod, and it would be a great facility. It would make a great soccer specific facility (with actual upgrades to the restrooms/parking/grass, etc). Majors road would probably need to be widened to accommodate IN / OUT traffic, but overall I think the surrounding neighbors would be happier than the high density housing that was planned.

Yeah - that street gets WAY backed up around 5-6pm.

I would imagine the cost to purchase this land from the developer has passed its feasibility point. Any additional expense would likely be too much to over come. UFA sold off the eternally failed field space near Crabapple to the City of Milton and the city over paid using bond dollars. Not a bad deal for UFA. UFA likely learned a lesson and decided it is better to use OPM (county tax payers) to support their business operations. Anyone have any idea what the annualized return to the Forsyth County tax payers is for each player (the contract repayment fee)?

Would think that it would cost way to much $$$$ to absorb the costs.
So called "non" profit and county partnerships have shown the way for non profit owners to make serious cash while avoiding the cost of ownership of fields.
I think the bubble is bursting, youth soccer is changing before our eyes --- many kids can't afford to play. DA wasn't the golden ticket or perfect, but at least the federation had a scholarship program to truly help costs associated with playing youth competitive soccer -- i.e. - travel costs.
Sorry -- I'll go back to the polo fields, those fields are garbage anyway, only suited for rec programs training 1 night a week.
