Looks like it is now in the hands of the owners... Back in business within 4 weeks of final agreement but I don't have much faith in the MLS. Not many owners are like uncle Arthur.

Update: League interested in profit ahead of fans stumbles (while trying to appease ESPN to sweeten the next TV deal). I hope the players union has the balls to stand united.

Wow... not really.... unless you didn’t realize that the mls owners didn’t care about anything but their money. I get why they kind of couldn’t but Players should have held out, owners have way to much power with little to no risk.

Unless of course you think of MLS as a business as opposed to a charitable/altruistic organization.
A business like say AMC theaters, which is likely about to shutter permanently due to the stupid/failed lock-down policies (but hey, their worker don't matter like MLS players amirite?). Some-to-many MLS franchises operate at a loss. Would you buy a stock you know is going to lose money? Should players at those clubs suffer due to their draft placement/being sold to a club operating at a loss or should they all suffer equally? Think about the people who work at the stadiums that are likely 1099 employees who work the games who aren't getting paid AT ALL.
I've been furloughed some during the nonsense, many have taken pay-cuts and some 30+ MILLION people have lost their jobs altogether, but we don't make anywhere near what the top earners of MLS do. Perhaps those earners should have donated a portion of their salary to help keep the clubs afloat? Or perhaps all players should be paid the same? Or perhaps from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs?
Maybe if the sponsors/advertisers/ESPN would have paid MLS/clubs even without the games being played, they wouldn't be in this situation? These selfish organizations care more about their money than the MLS players.
Personally, I agree the players should have held out. I think it would have been cool to see a lockout and scabs like the NFL had back in 87. See the little guys get a chance. Give us pro soccer, it doesn't matter who the players are and those who like soccer will watch.

If atlanta didn't get a team, I wouldn't have watched a single mls game the past 4 years.
But that being said, every year, I lose more and more interest in the league as they expand for dollar signs, shizat on the little man, don't offer appropriate compensation to players, travel on non-chartered planes.
Any why was Orlando selected for this endeavor? they are the worst team in the league? Was this a business decision because of a partnership with espn?
