Now that we have ended GA high school officially for the year and gotten past tryout / assessment / club move phase of the year, I was curious as to any thoughts or insight.
The Milton High School Varsity Girls’ Soccer coach was terminated mid-season. No official reason provided to the public but we had some after the fact reasons provided (again – nothing official just standard changes made HR stuff). No one but the coach and the AD know EXACTLY the conversation and events that led up to this termination. The timing was surprising but not the move itself. The dynamics within the soccer group at Milton has had issues for a while.
First you have the school AD who has basically his entire family (exaggeration but not by much) on staff at the school within the sports department. The JV girls’ soccer team is coached by the AD’s daughter. The level of coaching provided there is lacking and that is putting it nicely. The varsity and JV coach had communication issues, again – being nice as to how some of their dialogue occurred.
Also well-known is neither of the varsity coaches had a solid relationship with the truth when it came to communications with players, parents and school officials. Some of this was based on exuberance which is great but at the same time it has to be grounded in reality. Basically the feeling was you could not entirely trust either to keep their word or rely on what was told to you. That is not a unique trait or perception in today's world unfortunatley.
Thoughts on the timing, possible replacement, path forward under this type of family dynamic, anything else?

Interesting, sounds quite dysfunctional.
Scott Sterling, quite possibly the greatest face-first Yale athlete of our time.

Interesting, sounds quite dysfunctional. Scott Sterling, quite possibly the greatest face-first Yale athlete of our time. It is and the sad part is there are more rumors flying around than these. But my primary curiosity is the why. Also since the issue of nepotism/favoritism was bound to come up eventually with the family employment. Not sure if that was the primary catalyst or something else.

Interesting. Same thing happened at South Forsyth High with the girls varsity team.
Team had a game Wednesday night. The next day about about an hour before school got out, all parents received an email that the second year coach had been let go and introducing the new coach. The girls played three games with the new coach before Corona shut things down and won them all.
After the first game with the new coach, the AD and coach had a parent meeting. No reason given why the old coach was let go. My guess is it had to do with performance. Lots of talent on that team the past two seasons, but it never seemed to be translating to performance on the field.
I will say that I like the new coach much better than the old one, and the girls definitely seemed to respond better to him.

JV coach is Dominique Ratliff (formerly Sylvestri - daughter of AD)
