Girls post. So as the dust settles and the ecnl slots are basically set and SCCL teams take shape. What is everyone’s opinions on how much change you have seen at the current ECNL clubs and how much did the addition of Tophat players effect your teams/clubs?

Pretty sure my daughter was affected at UFA by the downward push that occurred from Tophat players coming to play ECNL.
She worked her tail off to try to move up to a higher team, but because some players were pushed down, there just did not seem to be any room for upward movement.
I am pretty sure everyone got this similar statement from the big 5 in their email about tryouts being cancelled. I do not believe for one minute that there will be any movement during team camps in July. Teams have already been formed.

I think the possibility for movement at the U12 and under age groups is pretty high. I think the U13 and up is very low to get on the ECNL team. A bit higher to get up onto the NPL team and so on down the list. Most of the NPL teams took smaller than average rosters. The key phrase about current coach's recommendation I would take with a grain of salt. One coach's best player is another coach's meh player. Years ago one of my kid's coaches argued and begged an pleaded for my kid to move up and the coach above said no. The next year with a different coach the move up happened. The other point is that we have seen that same clause at two other big 6 clubs not named UFA so it was an agreed upon statement I think.

I probably say it too much, but soccer is about opinions. The above statement is spot on. I will add that if your player is hearing the same advice from different coaches, you should pay attention. However, if it’s a generic reason (your player is good but needs to be better than half the higher team to get promoted), I would get a few more opinions-what could it hurt?
