Apparently a second division of ECRL will be competing in Texas. The winner of that division (United Soccer Clubs) will play the winner of the Texas division to go to the Open Cup.
I am sorry, but does this seem a little over the top to anyone else besides me? You now have two separate Texas conferences and the United Soccer Clubs conference is further divided into two divisions.

That should not come as a surprise. Not an opinion but by observation, the big clubs plan 3+ years ahead. The rest of the clubs and the associations seem to follow.
Virginia, Carolina, Texas, ECRL will be happening in Georgia too as part of the ECNL expansion project on 2nd ECNL team development and new club evaluation to join ECNL. It's a matter of time.
The club teams in SCCL-C and NPL with ECNL programs are positioned to slide right in. Interesting to see what happens with Ambush, Roswell and Rush.
Top SCCL-P1 teams and SCCL-P2 Champions will be promoted to SCCL-C at that point and will make room for few more Atlanta metro area clubs to join SCCL-P.
Georgia Soccer will serve all the remote, rural area clubs and a handful leftover clubs from the metro area.

I agree that would seem to make sense. Whether Soccer in Georgia goes that direction remains to be seen. The biggest clubs left out in all this right now are Inter and AFC. From discussion on here, I don't know if they will be brought into the fold (SCCL-C/ECRL). Or if the Geotgia clubs can even be persuaded to start up a new league.

Also, it sounds like a pyramid is forming.

Also, it sounds like a pyramid is forming. That is what it sounds like to me. Sounds like you play your ECRL in Texas. Win your division then play the winner in the other division. The winner of that plays the winner of ECRL Texas for the right to go to the Open Cup and play other ECRL teams and ECNL teams. It is not a bad thing IMO. The ECNL is top. ECRL is below with subdivisions within it (at least so far in Texas).
