A friend of mine said there are some few spots left on 04G SCCL P2 team TopHat! Private msg me if your daughter is interested. Is this Ria Smith’s team?

No. Ria is coaching 04G SCCL-CLUB How is Ria as a coach? She’s okay. Not a favorite after she walked away from a group a few years back mid year because they weren’t good enough and she expects A level players and commitments. (This was an Academy team) She knows a lot and can be a great skills coach but does play favorites. She’s not the type to be loyal to a team as she’s bounced around what 4 clubs in 6 years? Her being at NTH could be alright fit though.

Any input whether that is a fair and accurate statement?

That surely would be looked at as a conflict. Anyone know if this is true?

Interesting. I'm sure there is a blind eye turned to such practices. Not the only coach there that will do this.

No one knocks a coach for a side hustle of quality training. But once teams have been formed and registered, paid training of a kid on said team policies are in place for a reason. There's always exceptions but the levels of distrust created can wreck a team and be unsettling for parents. Good luck with that.

Last year my kid was at Tophat Milton. Due to the extra time that my GK daughter puts in training, and the fact that I stick around during training, I spent more time at the Kings Ridge, and North Park fields than most parents. I’ve seen side training at Tophat, but I never personally saw any side training during an ongoing season. That doesn’t mean that it wasn’t going on, just that if it was going on, IMO it’s not systemic, or condoned.
