I read this article about a half hour before you posted this. I felt the same way about Cone and Wilson. It felt a bit suspicious that their club (NC Courage) pulled out of DA and went ECNL before the announcement. I also felt that to pull DA at such a time without warning was WAAAAY UNCOOL! On both the boys and girls sides people did put a lot of time and money into bringing their clubs up to the levels needed. All of the coaches amd clubs spending money on higher level licenses and then leaving them out in the cold with little time to prepare.

ECNL- winning means just what it implies. They were the top girls league already and within 4 years the top ECNL boys had caught DA. Now ECNL is the top dog.

ECNL- winning means just what it implies. They were the top girls league already and within 4 years the top ECNL boys had caught DA. Now ECNL is the top dog. Easy to do when the other league is defunct due to the mismanagement of our federation. Besides, why does this matter to you? Why is important which league is the "top dog" especially celebrating when the federation is the loser? Also on the boys side I don't agree with the assertion that they had caught DA. Especially since all MLS teams were in DA, not ECNL. My final point is that it is a SHAME on our federation that this happened anyway! We should all WANT to have a federation that is strong and smart. We should not be celebrating their failures. Their failures just show us how lost they really are and that makes it hard to believe that the USMNT will EVER be as good as they should be!!! Celebrating the failures of our federation is similar IMO to celebrating failures of the US Olympic teams and committees.

I said the top ECNL teams caught DA. DA parents used to be on this same forum spouting similar claims of how great and better the DA players were and everyone else were wannabes. Guess not the case now.

I guess the wanna be players will be in SCcl now, as everyone gets shifted down with the truly elite players joining the ECNL.

It is too bad that ECNL and state leagues can not come together to make one large pyramid. There could be a playin spot at ECNL for teams that do well in state leagues like a wild card. Get rid of NL and have the best teams feed to ECNL wildcard spots.

Thanks for posting! Interesting read. There were some things in the article that I didnt know. For example, USSF executives were not very responsive when the rumors began to leak out. Or that USSF DA was forcing clubs to upgrade facilities.
The implementation of the changes was handled so poorly. Basically, to come out and say the league is over was the absolute worse way to end it. Thousands and thousands of players left in limbo is simply wrong.
I wouldnt be surprised if the black eye this created in youth soccer doesnt trickle down and impact the number of participants long term.

It was always difficult to gauge which teams from DA or ECNL were better. They rarely if ever played. I have a feeling DA would not allow it. Perhaps it was an insurance and league thing. I know a lot of ECNL kids who were offered DA spots but turned them down as they wanted the option of playing with high school friends.

For example, USSF executives were not very responsive when the rumors began to leak out. Or that USSF DA was forcing clubs to upgrade facilities. I cannot reiterate how completely and utterly useless/unavailing/pointless/nugatory the US Soccer Federation was in this regard. Absolutely no direction from the USSF "leadership" to the TDs, DOCs for the various DA\GDA clubs and the thousands of players and families invested. When you couple it with how the whole dissolution of the league occurred, IMO a bunch of chicken shizats that should all be run out of the youth game - Forever 🤯😷🤯
