I read this yesterday in soccer America. Looks like there was some fishy stuff going on. It does stink for the players and there are A LOT OF THEM. The timing is terrible too. Will these kids be able to find a team??!!?!

Definitely, a shame for all those kids but the one silver lining is that most schools in the Northeast play HS soccer during the fall so hopefully the older girls will recover.

GPS Charleston was in NPL at least for the boys. Are they out now?

Would it depend on what type of bankruptcy as to what happens to the teams/players? Chapter 11 or Chapter 13? I don't know, I didn't read the article.

Its dissolution. They fired all the coaches and admin. This wasn't bankruptcy protection, GPS is done.
No reason the local branches cannot create new clubs this summer with the same players and coaches. Some could even try to merge with other local clubs.

Sounds like this might be an opportunity for some of the Coaches n Parents to coalesce and create a new club product that may work for the community as a whole free of politics and the singular goal of profits...

Sounds good in theory. Someone has to have the time/energy to run it. They would have to be quick setting it up. Is there such a thing as something free of politics?
