You can see the accepted teams if you use the SINC Sports app.

Yea. Not unexpected though. Why would teams want to travel to the ATL at the beginning of August? Maybe because it is an advertised "college showcase" event? On the positive outlook side, the teams might seem different given different rosters to start the new season!

Could also be that Concorde's reputation for no refunds is finally catching up to them. Rain is always likely in August in Georgia - and we all know that Concorde will cancel the tournament if there's the slightest chance of wet fields.

In looking at some Atlanta Cup brackets, it seems like they are having the same issue. I used to see some high level teams coming from many other states. Not seeing it now.

its too bad, maybe its a trend of pre-season tournaments but you would think with reciprocation, it would be fine. i guess part of it is also that concorde has the feb tourney, ufa has the norcross cup in dec, and the ufa tourney end of spring, and thier own ufa fall tourney. those tourneys are usually bigger than the preseason ones. we did atlanta cup last year, field wasn't great, it was just another local tourney basically on a holiday weekend at a field in the middle of no where off of 20, almost in alabama!!

dang, the u14 girls bracket is the same ole same ole, hoping for some out of town teams - all local! It looks like for U14 girls, the Tophat tournament is the place to play this year - 8 out-of-state teams. SSA only has 3 U14 girls teams total(!) in their tournament and it doesn't look like NASA or CF attracted any out-of-state U14 teams. Atlanta Cup only has one out-of-state team for U14 girls.

Is there another Concorde tournament this weekend also?? Lots of chatter on the other forum It's named something different - NIKE Showcase I think. Here's my question - why do clubs in metro Atlanta have their tournaments on the same weekend? The competition is so watered down when you have the mega clubs (Concorde, SSA, NASA, UFA) all holding tournaments at the same time. Even smaller clubs hold them the same weekends - why not spread it out - we'd probably do more local tournaments if there were options in October or March!

INteresting - from the tournament website
Welcome to the first year of Concorde Fire’s Nike Select Cup! Concorde Fire Soccer Club of Metro Atlanta is pleased to invite your team to the beautiful city of Atlanta for this inaugural tournament. Kick start your season with this late summer tournament that will draw teams from around the country. Concorde Fire Soccer Club is one of the nation’s premier soccer clubs. Please join us in Atlanta, Georgia on August 8-10, 2014.
For our U14 and younger teams playing 11v11 in our Nike Select Cup, we will be playing a traditional tournament format where teams are placed into groups for round robin play to determine finalist for the championship. For our U15 and older teams playing in the Showcase portion of our Nike Select Cup, teams will play 3 scheduled games with no advancement to a final. The Showcase will post standings but there will not be advancement nor trophies/plaques for teams "winning" the event. Showcase Teams will have the option of selecting to play a 3-day format (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) or a 2-day format (2 games on Saturday and 1 game on Sunday) when registering.
SO the 'Showcase' is just three games - seems any coaches or scouts would want to see the best two teams play in each age division.
Also - had to look this part up, too - although it looks like the idiots at Concorde just did a little copy past of their previous refund policy - forgot to change 'Challenge Cup' to "Nike Select Cup' in that first paragraph. So they are sloppy copy editors AND crooks who keep your money! Why do you even want to do anything that club puts on?
TERMINATION of Games or Tournament DUE TO WEATHER/ACT OF GOD Once accepted into the Challenge Cup, there will be no refunds . This includes reasons of inclement weather, poor field conditions or any Act of God.
Payment of Registration fees Once accepted into the Nike Select Cup,there will be no refunds. This includes reasons of inclement weather, poor field conditions or any Act of God. If your check is returned NSF, you will be charged an additional $25 fee.

the standard has been set to give full refunds if you do not play a single game, that being said, smaller tournaments might not want to spend the money on insurance, i have to assume given all the rainouts/rain in atl, the cost of insurance as increased.

Apparently Concorde has no standards. In all the years my kid has played, that club has never given more than half the money back even when the entire tournament was snowed or rained out. If you try to fight that, they will refer you to the rule section I posted above (even with the bad copy paste job and poor editing where they kept 'Concorde Challenge' in the name rather than changing it to NIKE). Entering a Concorde tournament is a crap shoot - and your odds of keeping your money are much higher in Vegas than with that club!

The schedule was kinda up for a little while and it's down again. I know from personal experience how difficult it is to run a large tournament, but this is crazy. Their referee assignor must be on the verge of a heart attack. Not to mention how many unhappy customers. Their out of state teams must be lighting up the phones and emails.

finally posted brackets online vs just the app. but clearly some teams have changes age groups/brackets.
looks like they are going with groups of 3 in 6 team brackets. think they go with top 2 in each group play a semi final game or 3 schedule games with each team playing 1 game from the other group.

Still a crap shoot - I just looked at the ten day forecast - there's a chance of rain this coming weekend - starting on Friday. I'll bet you a beer this one gets cancelled by Saturday morning!

I wonder why CF put their U14 Athena A team in the second division in their tourney. The rest of the teams in the division are Athena C, E and F and the top division has Athena A and B teams in it. Lack of confidence in the team? Wanting to better their chances of a medal?

that is their top central team, their u14 ecnl team is playing u15. i guess they think they are too good for the competition..... i watched them play, they have some very good individuals on that team, but didn't play very well as team (impression from state cup).
the top central team didn't win a game in A last year and would struggle against most B teams. somehow they remained in A though.....

To be fair to Concorde though, they probably think since it is going to be rained out anyway they don't need to waste the time putting schedules together.
