Has anyone seen fall preseason tournaments cancellation policies? I haven’t seen anything for the two that my players are schedule on play in.
Regardless of whether you want your player to compete this fall there seems to be a very high likelihood that there will be suspensions and cancellations if the upward trend continues
The clubs hosting tournaments are all tight on cash right now so we have the opportunity as parents/teams to make the simple demand of a COVID cancellation policy. If it’s all clear we play, if not we get our fees back- 100%
I’d like to ask all parents to push there coaches and TMs to require a written policy prior to paying any registration fees

Or you could just have your child play rec soccer so you don’t have to try to rally people into taking money back from non-profit organizations.
...unless you play for Concorde. Feel free to take all you want. They’re for-profit.

Of the local Aug tourneys, I believe Concorde, SSA, and NASA have some refund policy if no games are played. We’ve had good luck in the past with Concorde returning all monies except for online registration. Unsure how much SSA or NASA would return as they state a partial refund would be considered. (If I’m remembering correctly)

Based on what I’ve seen on sinc sports pages most are taking registration without cancellation policies. We’ve decided not to register for our teams as there will be no way that they are going to be able to play.
It still baffles me that so many people have so much disposable income that it doesn’t matter to them. The way things are looking with the Covid and the riots I’d suggest Holding on to as much as you can

Covid will eventually get under control. There are no riots going on worth worrying about. The end times aren't here.
Relax.

Granted I haven't looked at all of them, but at least a dozen in GA/NC/SC have cancellation policies.

I understand written cancellation policies and the need or desire for them, but there are folks on this board who have already stated that the Fall Season / tournaments aren't going to happen. Why are you so sure? Don't get me wrong, it may turn out to be true, but why is soccer different from any other sport? My daughter has friends that are currently participating in AAU basketball tournaments. A local park by our house is having a massive baseball tournament where all 10 fields are full with games all day.
I think what's more likely to happen is that clubs will press on and unless the state or local government decides to shut things down (very little public support for more shutdowns), you are going to see situations where a single tournament game may get cancelled if a team doesn't have enough kids or it turns out that an entire team has to be quarantined.
Same goes for the Fall season...you may be scheduled for a Saturday game against UFA and your team finds out that UFA team can't play due to quarantine...they will probably just reschedule the game for the end of the season.
Cancelling an entire season after we lost the spring season is going to be a big issue for clubs, players (their skills and mental health) and even some parents. A year of lost soccer games is going to have a drastic impact and not for the good

Agreed that teams involved in leagues with multiple states can or may find it more difficult to reschedule. However, rainouts can and do happen. What would you do if you were scheduled to play in Houston and Hurricane Christina (made up name) decided that is when she wanted to make landfall in TX? Instead of rainouts we will now have "quarantine outs". And while not perfect, if you don't play two games, at least you played 10. Last time I looked, Piedmont still had games left to be played from last fall before all of this mess started.
Is everything going to be perfect? Certainly not. But just blindly cancelling sports seasons before they have a chance to get going seems harsh.

Relax. Again, it must be nice to have disposable income to throw at a soccer tournament without a thought of refunds for not playing. Just keep on following along...🐑🐑🐑

So tournament fees for a single tournament are about $50.00 per player I've already paid $350 dollars towards fall registration on the payment plan I've already shelled out close to $500 for a new uniform kit because it's our club's new uniform year I've already spent probably $50.00 is gas to go back and forth to summer soccer training.
I get it, $50.00 is $50.00, but when considering all of the other costs of youth soccer (or sports in general), it's not really all that much.
Youth sports in general are money losers on the parents side. A college scholarship would never cover academy through select fees from U9 - U18
All of soccer is disposable income, not just tournament fees

Quick question: can anyone tell me for sure if the Jefferson Cup has been canceled? I saw a text from another team's manager saying it had been canceled, and will offer 65% credit for next year. However I can't find anything on their website...

Here’s a great example of upfront transparency in order to attract teams during an uncertain time. It’s really not that difficult people. Bravo Copa Rayados! www.coparayados.com/

Seems like a rip-off I did hear that it was canceled from a coach, we pulled out of it early on and hadn't paid them yet at the time, thank goodness!!!

Hopefully clubs and teams take a stand and never attend their tourney again. They were not happy when we pulled out, gave us the blacklisted speech. In times like this, its better not to piss of your consumers. I'm not a fan of Jeff Cup

The getting back to normal people and wanting to get along with normal life and sports are the sheep..... SSA tournament for my son's team cost about $65 per kid for fees and per-diem. Yeah I'm willing to put $65 toward a tournament whether I see a refund or not. I've already put $150 for placement hold for a spot on the team, and about $350 on new uniforms so it is what it is. Ultimately soccer is still cheaper than some sports like travel baseball. SSA has refund policy if we don't play season, so basically I'm out uniforms (which can be used next season anyway) and maybe a tournament fee but I would imagine it will be refunded as well. Ultimately I think a lot of people are willing to put their money where there mouth is as far as getting back to normal. It sounds like maybe you should take your kid and go back to rec where it's less money and safer for your own wallet with the rest of the sheep....

Follow along my man. There’s definitely nothing wrong with the youth soccer system in GA- no changes needed
