They will allow 40% of freshman to stay in dorms fall semester. Oh, and NO DISCOUNT on the $47,000 per year tuition to take classes online! Evidently big announcement from the entire IVY league coming on July 8th that all IVY league fall sports will be cancelled for the fall. There is a potential that football and women’s soccer could play in the spring. Yikes!

Max,
Where did you see this? After a quick search, I did not find anything on these topics. Don’t doubt you, just curious.

I read the Harvard allowing freshman only on campus and select others on a case by case basis yesterday or the day before. Maybe it was in the Harvard Crimson. The Princetonian says Princeton is doing Freshman and Juniors in the fall and Sophomores and Seniors in the spring. Yale will have freshman on campus as well but a lot of on line classes too.
The Ivy League announcement expected Wednesday was in the Athletic I believe. They are expected to announce all fall sports playing in the spring. Will be interesting to see if others follow suit as they lead the charge with the NCAA basketball tournament.

Most colleges dont have the billions in endowments that Ivy League schools have. We need to open schools and get back to work.

An unintended consequence of going all digital/online is for international students. I believe Immigration will require then that they return to their home countries if no physical in-person instruction is occurring. That includes soccer players on scholarship too...

I believe you are correct.. and it's kind of messed up. Look up what happened with online AP tests - kids in other countries were doing them at 2am their time. Imagine being a Harvard student, and having to take online classes in the middle of the night.
Of course, they could temporarily adjust how they handle student visas.. but they won't.
[edit] FG - you are exactly right. Kind of crappy.

Most colleges dont have the billions in endowments that Ivy League schools have. We need to open schools and get back to work. I’m sure a lot of private and state university employees, who likely were not getting rich but felt quite secure.. are keenly aware of this need.

Per Jon rothstein on Twitter a moment ago; Sources: Ivy League programs have been informed that fall sports have been cancelled.
The conference will not entertain any sports being played until after January 1st.
Winter sports will have an update in mid-July on their respective practice schedules.
