right now Charlotte FCs academy I think has odd age groups - Atlanta United is going to thrash them. Unfortunately, I'm hearing that is not the case. A former nat'l team player from AU, who is now on the U17s for Charlotte FC and his parents say they already played and they came out on top 2-1 against our local MLS U17s...

Interesting -- I'm still going with AU showing up for this one and implementing their style of play to win by a minimum of 3 goals. If Atlanta Uniteds true 15s play Charlotte's' 15s, it could get u g l y quick.

Good-luck to the AU Academy Lads, in the second inaugural I-85 Derby, as the teams play at Bank of America Stadium... MLS Academy Version 🙏😷🙏
Update: Thinking AU should come out on top, since AU2 is done and some of the U17 players are coming back down to redeem the earlier loss. Additionally, trying to secure link for the streaming of the game. Hopefully I get it before kick-off and will share...

I read somewhere that it is not for your actual seat (since NFL ST holders will have PSLs for same seats), just earlier ability to purchase a seat for non-NFL/MLS events. Also, the thought is that you could sell your license later on as demand grows, which seems like a stretch.

AU U17s looking to come out with the win on Sat vs Charlotte.
I must say a totally different team will be on the pitch this weekend. Should make for a solid game. Good luck boys!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the AU U17s lose a close one in the inaugural 85 Derby fixture? Hopefully, the lads can clap back that loss. Do they play here or Charlotte?

They have lost twice. Once at home and once away. Both by 1.
They play away this weekend. 2021 team is a very strong group. I heard they beat the AU u16s 6 or 7 to 1.
We have to wait and see. Wish them luck.

I think the AU U16s play NASA U17 this weekend in the Unite Cup.

I think the AU U16s play NASA U17 this weekend in the Unite Cup. That should be a very good matchup. I thought the AU U17s were the ones playing in the United Cup since I didn't see a U16 group. The NASA U17s are a solid team, didn't they dominate the U17 bracket in their ECNL division? I hear a few boys cut from AU landed there. Wish I could make it out to watch them but sadly no fans at AU. Thanks for the heads up, let us know how it turns out.

Who knows, they mix it up all the time. The main U17s play on Sat vs Charlotte. The NASA game will be the U16s with i think a couple of u17s.
Yes, NASA is prob the strongest U17 team in the area. Will be an interesting match-up.

AU U17s lost 2-1. The defense in 1st half let them down.
Heard NASA won like 6 or 7-1 vs AU U16s

🤔
So maybe ATL UTD should sign starters of NASA U-17? 🤷🏻♂️

Oh W0W looks like ATL UTD had a not so great weekend. I wonder what the issue is. bogan from what I'm hearing, quite a few of the boys cut from AU at that age group landed on that NASA team. So not sure if AU would re-sign them or if they would want to return to AU. So I'm sure there was some incentive to play hard against AU and go hard. I've only heard about one player returning to AU after being cut and he's from UFA and that just happened this spring... So for those who watched the games, know the teams or have kids who play on these two teams, it begs the question, is this a fluke, is it the caliber of boys being brought into the academy or being retained, is it coaching, do other teams just bring their A+++ game when they step on the field with AU? I have heard there is some mixing of the age groups to form teams at AU, so do they not have any chemistry or are there clicks within the team that are not willing to play as one cohesive team?

I man that is an old fashioned a** whooping. Even if it was all u15s, team should be good enough and coached good enough to compete against a team an age group up. I've seen a handful of u16s locally that can play -- nasa, ufa and concorde. some quality kids. Not surprised at all to be honest, NASA is positioning themselves a the next destination club and kids seem to be gravitating to them.
the 17s result is just as surprising to me - throwing out homegrowns, 2s etc, those kids should flat out dominate. Carleton at that age, absolutely toyed with kids. From what i hear charlotte seems to be doing a very good job working with clubs in the state -- constantly bringing in kids and speaking with clubs docs and coaching staff. They seem to be trying to establish more of a relationship with the clubs and foster a collaborative player identification process.

NASA 06s also beat ATL UTD 06 in the Atl Utd Cup, so good weekend for NASA ECNL.

They seem to be trying to establish more of a relationship with the clubs and foster a collaborative player identification process. Honestly not judging, just clarifying, so you think fostering a collaborative atmosphere is what AU needs to do, to find more success or creating a carousel of kids coming in for trials? Again, not judging, really trying to pick the brains of others who are on the frontline and are more informative. With the closing of the training grounds to outsiders non-AU families, I don't have the luxury of watching first hand like I did in the past...

NASA 06s also beat ATL UTD 06 in the Atl Utd Cup, so good weekend for NASA ECNL. Can someone remind me, were these the boys/age-group that won the Manchester City Nexen Cup a couple of years ago that were introduced to us at halftime of an AU game at the MBS?
