The best fast food breakfast by far was Mrs Winners. The steak biscuit was awesome. If anyone of you are true Atlanta suburb Georgians then you’ll know the best fast food breakfast is Martin’s. Back in the 80s and early 90s that place could rock out some amazing breakfasts. Yep - massive biscuits that are delicious. The steak biscuit is an experience. I still hit up that one on Jimmy Carter from time to time.

This was a really good forum for a little while. People respectfully talking about youth soccer without much of the vitriol that characterized the old forum and blessedly no politics. That has now changed to the point where we can send this forum the way of the old one. Most of the soccer talk now comes from a small group of parents who know very little about what they are usually talking about from coaches, to league structure, to the college recruiting process. And every other post devolves into pseudo-scientific breakdowns of the pandemic that feature even less understanding than the soccer talk. I’d like to propose the owner of this forum take it down for the general good. It’s a cesspool. A smaller cesspool than the old forum, but a cesspool still. Or, you can just exercise your rights and leave the forum. Go start your own. Be a solution, not a complainer. And as many have noted, there is no soccer to talk about. But to humor you, I'll talkm a little soccer with you: All-In NL 05 girls have been practicing for 4 weeks , two nights a week. Voluntarily. And we are signed up for the Nike Select tourney. So far, no one has been injured so knock on wood. The girls love their new coach, Sergio Magana. All-In is adding three turf fields to their park, so there is that. Oh, and a GK from LSA NL joined our team. That's good news. She goes to HS with 5 of her teammates at All-In. How about that, some soccer talk. Anyone else want to descrive how exhilerating your practices have been?

I just ate BBQ for lunch. I forgot to add that. Really... Where did you go. My preference is Community Q or Fox Brothers although Fox Brothers quality has slipped. I think they have let their popularity get to them. My Son's SSA team is doing "makeup" training sessions for the Spring 2020 folks. This is in place of refunds I assume. He is also working out 4x a week with a College soccer player while he is home from college. Most of the SSA southside coach wise has been gutted and new coaches and directors brought in. I believe SSA's official start date for the new season for all players is the week of 8/3.

Oh, and MOBA has been holding voluntary practices. Pretty much just a glorified scrimmage but the boy enjoys.

Little one trains once per week with private trainer and has throughout corona, has had team training three times per week for a month though those are on hold until team camp. Did fitness throughout corona by running on a local trail. Also works on footwork at home.
Older one has had team trainings for a month twice per week, trains twice per week with private trainer, does club required fitness, works on footwork and shooting on her own.
Neither of my kids has any rust from corona technically or fitness wise but one hasn't played a game or a full field scrimmage in 6 months and the other hasn't since March. We were supposed to scrimmage teams within our club this weekend but it got canceled due to COVID exposure.

Yessir, they are replacing the old turf there (you are correct in your assessment:) You know where the parking lot is rught next to the little woode bridge that you walk over to get to the current field? If you walk the opposite way, (I've never been back there as I'm new there) there is a walking path? Behind that treeline is where they are building the new turf fields. They are doing the turf replacing after this season. But I don't remember the timeline of the new fields.

LOL - I don't like the knickknack store, but I will protect with my dying breath their ability to operate their knickknack store But the owner, mister paddywhack, is always trying to give the damn dog a bone! A frog goes into a bank and approaches the teller. He can see from her nameplate that the teller's name is Patricia Whack. So he says, "Ms. Whack, I'd like to get a loan to buy a boat and go on a long vacation." Patti looks at the frog in disbelief and asks how much he wants to borrow. The frog says $30,000. The teller asks his name and the frog says that his name is Kermit Jagger, his dad is Mick Jagger, and that it's OK, he knows the bank manager. Patti explains that $30,000 is a substantial amount of money and that he will need to secure some collateral against the loan. She asks if he has anything he can use as collateral. The frog says, "Sure. I have this," and produces a tiny pink porcelain elephant, about half an inch tall, bright pink and perfectly formed. Very confused, Patti explains that she'll have to consult with the manager and disappears into a back office. She finds the manager and says "There's a frog called Kermit Jagger out there who claims to know you and wants to borrow $30,000. He wants to use this as collateral." She holds up the tiny pink elephant. "I mean, what the heck is this?" The bank manager looks back at her and says: "It's a knick knack, Patti Whack. Give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone"

My 05 has been training with 2 of her teammates at a local place our here in Braselton since the end of April. Out of the blue, my younger 08 (U13 this fall) decided to play soccer again. The last time she played she had just made the top team at AFU U11 for coach Brad Mitchum (great coach at AFU if you are lucky enough to get him) but before the season started, she abruptly quit to play volleyball. So after watching her 05 sister practice for a week at All In, she wanted to do it again so she's on an Athena C u13/U14 mix team. I'm happy for her. I would like to use this time to give a PSA for parents:) As parents we never "forced" our kids to play soccer. However, our 08 told us one day later the reason she quit is because she thought it made "mom and dad" happy that she follwoed in her big sister's footsteps. Now I have to admit a vulnerability to all of you here and tell you that it brought me to tears. (Yes, "mean old honeybadger who is an a**" . Our kid had been playing since U6 to please mom and dad and not to please herself. We had no idea how small children can take our words as parents. So the 08 on her own wanted to try out for middle school volleyball as a 6th grader (she's 12 now and 5'7") and she found she was great from day one, starting as a 6th grader for a team that only lost to Buford last fall. It came naturally for her. She was always the fastest on her soccer team, and she can jump high and all that good stuff. My wife and I were so happy that she chose something for her own reasons. Then, a week after our older one started training at All-In, she came to us and said she wanted to go back to soccer. We were stunned. This time, we asked her to think it over for 3 days because we wanted her to know we support whichever sport she played. She came back and said soccer. She's even happy that she is on a "lower" rated team than the team she left at AFU because she knows she hasn't touched a ball in 2 years so is just happy to be on the bench or start or whatever they need her to do. I'll end with this: Even when I didn't think I was pressuring my little one, she took it that way. Please make sure your children know better than I did with mine that they aren't supposed to play a sport to please us. It has to be what they enjoy.

To clarify after checking the City of Sugar Hill Website it’s one full size field, one 7v7 field, and one 4v4/U8 field. Looks like it was awarded to Advanced Sports Group out Kennesaw. They were the ones that redid Silverbacks, the Brook Run Park in Dunwoody, Lakepoint, Arizona Ave and the new Braly Park. Looked like they hoped to break ground by end of July so they could have those opened by Spring. That’s gonna be great little complex when all this gets done. They just need to fix the lack of parking issue.

think community is more important than ever.
this time also gives more chance for thought and debate.
its not always good but necessary. stifling it is just short-sighted.

try to say to parents as a coach that we try to create a community so its good there is talk but its always the passengers asking the pilot to fly the plane. most of the world soccer is free so parents dont feel entitled to get involved as much.

Threads like some the most recent ones echo this persons sentiment. It’s just a way for uninformed people to spread rumors that ultimately hurt themselves and their clubs. If truly monitored by an unbiased person some post should even be removed. It will sort itself out. Too many sober minds on this forum. We can tell when parents, or coaches 😉 , are just bickering

I am still thankful for this forum as there is a lot of good information given out here. There are times when people may be misinformed or too close to a situation to be objective, but most of the time info is shared with good intentions.

We have some good people here and good questions, suggestions answers and solutions. Coaches come here. DOCs come here. It ain’t perfect that’s for sure - but nothing is. Your a strong contributor - hope you decide to stick around and weather the storm. amen!
