I would normally be a little more respectful that a coach was just fired before asking this question, but since it was a Mutual Uncoupling and it's the middle of the season, I feel it's okay to ask. Who do you think should be the next Gaffer of the Atlanta United Team 🤔 I will throw out two name: Marcelo Bielsa and Jesse Marsch
Marcelo Bielsa currently coaches the newly promoted Championship soon to be Premiere League team Leeds United. That is a storied team that he rescued and returned to the EPL. If memory serves me well, he's never coached in the EPL, so I just don't see him passing up a chance to ply his trade in one of the top leagues of World Football. I am secretly hoping the mutual ties to Newell's Old Boys between the AU Brass and the Madman Bielsa can convince him to take on the MLS. He reminds me of our first coach Tata but deep down I think this would be nothing short of a Miracle should he chose to roam the sidelines of the MBS.
Jesse Marsch is currently plying his trade as the head coach of the Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg. He's young, successful, played in the MLS for over a decade and I dare say an American. There have been reports of him wanting to coach the USMNT. However, we all know that Berhalter isn't going anywhere. At least not yet. So why not convince him to come to the 5 Stripes, show what you can do with a dynamic type of play and success that brings another MLS trophy to the ATL. Should we have a poor showing in either qualifications or the 2022 Quatar WC, US Soccer would be begging him to take over from Berhalter. Oh yeah, plus he meets the US Soccer criteria of speaking English.
I don't know if AU Brass read this here forum, but I will only ask that David Moyes not be in consideration. When Tata left, I had heard he was in consideration for the head job. I know he's in somewhat of a caretaker role at West Ham, being brought in to ensure they avoid relegation. I am on hands n knees praying that they make him permanent, so he's no longer an option. He was boring at Everton and even more abysmal at Man United. Now I will sit back and listen to your thoughts on who you think the next boss should be...
