Dear SCCL Schedulers
When scheduling the 10-11 games for the Club Level SCCL teams please consider the following:
1. There are TWELVE full weekends from September 5 through Nov. 21 ... That is plenty of time to schedule ONE GAME per weekend per week and still have two completely empty extra weekends for make-up games.
2. Labor Day Weekend: Since we only have 10 games in a season I for one would prefer that we do NOT play 30% of our total season games by scheduling THREE games over the three day weekend as has been done in the past!
3. Fall Break: We recognize that SCCL Clubs are spread out over 3 states and at least 7 separate school districts but by using google I can already figure out when school fall breaks are scheduled for the SCCL clubs so I for one would prefer that our team NOT have 3 full weekends off from scheduled league games in October.
4. Given the uncertainty and possibility of CoVid related quarantines that may occur; I for one think spreading games out over the entire season and having neutral fields already scheduled to be available for make-up game weekends sounds like a great idea to go ahead and plan ahead for.
5. Please give consideration to these simple scheduling common sense suggestions to continue to make the league the a quality league that truly puts players and families as a priority.
6. I for one and personally know several others that would be glad to assist the league in anyway we can.

I think you should have posted or sent something like this a month or two ago. More than likely the schedule is already completed and the league is working with the clubs on any requests for change.
I know I have heard the rumors about a 10 game schedule (10 teams in SCCL Club League), but has that been confirmed anywhere?
I also heard a rumor that no league games were going to be scheduled in November, thus providing opportunities for teams to play more tournaments late in the season. If this is the case, there would only be 8 weekends to schedule the league games, so a 10 game schedule wouldn't be bad. Again, I have not seen this confirmed anywhere.

more tournaments = more money - parents already spent enough money to play

Thanks for the input! We here at central scheduling, and in the youth soccer racket in general, love hearing from parents. We will take your concerns to heart as we always strive to make things easier for soccer families that we understand are juggling multiple issues at any given point in time. Here in Georgia we have access to the Youth Futbol AI Super Computer at Georgia Tech which determines optimal scheduling for each and every youth soccer team player in the state based on the most current data we receive from each parent. I’m confident your concerns will be met with the most speed and diligence that you are looking for. Bless your heart.

I assure you I have written and spoken these words to all who should read/listen for months LOL Just posting it here so when it happens I get a scoop award from Soccerhouse and when it doesn't happen GameofThrow-ins can give me a whomp whomp whomp sound effect! And I get some small personal satisfaction of saying to myself at least I tried (shrug) As long as Disney isn't one of those November tournaments I am asked to go to ... All is good over here in my world!

I for one and personally know several others that would be glad to assist the league in anyway we can. Based on what I have seen of our schedule, a lot of this was either ignored or never seen. 1. We currently have 9 games scheduled. 7 of those 9 are scheduled between the middle of October & the first weekend on November. 2. It appears as though no games are scheduled for Labor Day Weekend. 3. It's possible this is being taken into consideration. Our club appears to be off the weekend of GCPS fall break. 4. The only separation we see is between our first weekend of games in mid-September and our next games starting in mid-October. Everything else is packed into 4 straight weekends. 5. Common sense, lol. I will leave it at that. 6. I would be happy to help out the league and offer suggestions & assist in implementing things. Since I don't work for a club I doubt my assistance and ideas would be welcome.

I agree with most your points. #1 and #2 in particular are excellent, and directly related to player development. One game per weekend over a long period with short breaks or one weekend byes every other month would be ideal. Three games in three days might be "convenient logistically" and less costly for NL or State Cup or tourneys etc, but, is horrible idea as fas as the players are concerned and just bad for soccer, let alone the risk of a heat stroke or fatigue injury when you factor in 90' back to back matches in the middle of hot humid summer days. They should know better & can do better. Except unfortunately in scheduling the driving factors prioritize other things over player development and even safety. And this time in a club founded league -and Covid aside- it's all on the clubs leadership in control of those schedules.

Why is it that now the mega clubs have essentially taken over GA Soccer I hear the witch from the Wizard of Oz in my head?

Wow, heat stroke and fatigue? I wonder how lacrosse players play 5 games a weekend in full pads and helmets all summer long. Plus football practice from 8-12 and lacrosse practice from 6-8 during the week. Doesn’t seem possible. And yet...

9 games is too few, 10 is tolerable and 12-14 is ideal.
10 weekends to play 9 games coming up. SCCL Club should do better. Not many are traveling, they should be scheduling 2nd local games. Additionally they really should have coordinated open weekends with GA Soccer for State Cup. SCCL/NPL teams winning State Cup would be free advertising.

I agree with 12-14 matches per season / 24-26 per year being the ideal number. For State Cup however this is not an SCCL/Ga Soccer issue. Most would love to see a real State Cup again, with winners advancing to Regional and National play and go for the big one like the good ole days. However this is not possible under the USYS or US Club rules.

As for this year, due to Covid, incremental scheduling (like the MLS) would be a good way to go. Don't know the league's scheduling expertise but it's a very important part of any successful league.
