So now that most have been back to practice, are you seeing any players that you can tell didnt workout during this covid lock down?
Just wondering. I can personally see that some havent worked hard as others.

I can personally see that some havent worked hard as others. I haven't been to one of our full team practices yet, but my daughter said there are definitely a few who look like they haven't touched a ball since the lockdowns in March.

Very clear who has been spending too much time on Netflix and Tik Tok, players who put in the work are standing out

Yeah I figured, its going to take time for those to get back game ready.
Over a 100 days is a long time. plus Spring is usually "peak" player performance.
Those that did work hard during this "break" should be very proud of themselves.

I’ve seen the opposite also - kids who didn’t take a break this summer and aren’t ain’t better. Natural growth and progression of some players. It’s a crap shoot and a grind.

Motivation got harder the longer it went on without games.. but mine used it as an opportunity to get better and did.
Definitely slowed down a little as it dragged on.. getting back to team trainings has been a huge boost. One had a full field scrimmage against another team.. and you'd think she just made the national team by the grins when they came off.

I highly doubt that their performance is a direct result of whether they worked during lockdown. They are children and there are a ton of factors at play here. Perhaps, we support them this season rather than judge them for their performance during a global pandemic.

In somewhat of a defense, there's a reason some kids chose TEAM sports - to have a TEAM to work out with, push each other, etc. Individual training over an extended period is a challenge for many. Some need that social bonding to push themselves. In short, this spring and summer has sucked on many levels...
One of my kids just started running XC. Getting them to run with me or on their own before team practice started was like pulling teeth. Once group training started, their competitive nature took over and the motivation returned. Now running is no longer a chore.

Lots of injuries from what I have seen. Doing too much so quickly. For sure off the ball movement and lazy passing. Im sure over the next month or so things will get back to stride.
I have seen some players make up ground over the last 100 days. Good to see that some put the time in.
Cheers to a good start of preseason so far.
