I have been having discussions with parents going through the whole dead period, no showcase, no film, no ID Camps mess Covid has presented to us. So in lieu of sitting and lamenting about things, what are some of your suggestions for those families looking for ways to connect players with colleges and college coaches? How are you communicating provided you're allowed? Curious as to what other innovative ways coaches and parents are using to get their players/prospects on track to obtain scholarships? For example - I know some coaches who are currently happy with video from scrimmages and even practice. Obviously, make sure you kid looks good in that practice/scrimmage but it gives them an idea of where a player they may be interested in, currently stands. I came across this and thought I would share this detailing some helpful tips on the whole recruitment game: 149363092.v2.pressablecdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Final-ECNL-Coach-Tips-Infographic-1-scaled.jpg

More importantly, one of the best resources you have is this forum. You get ideas, experiences and solutions. If you're ever in doubt, you can also private message folks on here and if they don't know, they are usually very helpful in directing you to someone who can help or their suggestions are worth their weight in Gold... BTW Good luck in your journey

Another thing that helps is to have a team recruiting coordinator. One that not just hands out flyers at games, but also keeps track of attending coaches names and schools, who they are here to see, get cards, etc. For example, you write letters to 10 coaches inviting them to come watch you at such and such tournament. Game 1 there are 40 coaches present. Wow! Everyone is stoked. Only 10 at game 3 on Sunday. But one of those is his second time to watch the team play. He liked what he saw and came back for more. This shows interest. On Monday, the email needs to go out, thanks Coach for watching my two games. Sat wasn’t my best game but I’m glad you got to see Sunday game where I really poured it on! That kind of thing. Also the coordinator can mention to the player after the game, Coach so and so said you wrote him and he was here watching your game. So the player can email coach thanking him for his attendance. Makes for a more personalized email campaign. This is especially important if you are a defender for example and he watched you in a game where your team controlled 80% possession and you barely had a chance to play defense.
A bit of a jumble there, but you get my gist.
