He has been such a fixture in Georgia and the region and will be missed! What's going on with ODP during the pandemic anyway?

Will resume in Jan. 2021 - that’s the latest I’ve heard anyway. (If Biden wins - earlier; if Trump wins - later. 😂)

They named Laura Halfpenny (from Orlando) Executive Director. She's solid, smart, and high soccer business IQ.

Didn't see the announcement of a retirement... any timeframe for filling the position (or already announced as well)?

He was the one person involved with ODP that didn’t have club based political bias. Hopefully his replacement can continue in that way. Great coach and person- good luck in retirement!

Are u9-u12 academy players at sccl clubs registered in georgia soccer? It varies from club to club. Concorde and SSA are not. Roswell and Rush Union are.

Not to steal Jacob Daniels thunder given the amount of contributions he's made to the game, but Laura Halfpenny has her hands full -- GA Soccer is a different beast then it was 5 years ago and I think now has a different mission then prior.

previous director was "told" keep it status quo. then the sky fell -- age mandate, DA expansion club and age expansion, RPL cluster, US club expansion with SCCL DA girls etc.
and state associations basically just sat back and watched it crumble.
I will say and say it proudly -- state cup used to be the greatest youth soccer event on the planet. period. done. end of story. A true earned championship that actually meant something.

They named Laura Halfpenny (from Orlando) Executive Director. She's solid, smart, and high soccer business IQ. And dumb enough to leave an anti-Trump post on her public Twitter account. Guess she doesn't care to build a bridge to the 50% of her stakeholders who support the current administration. I would say the same either way - if you lead a public organization, you should be silent or neutral on political issues. twitter.com/Halfpenny10?lang=en

Laura Halfpenny @halfpenny10 · Jun 2 November is coming- vote out those in our local, state and government that perpetuate division and hate. It’s time to unite. #BlackOutTuesday #TrumpOut2020

I'm not sure it was a retirement, from the email Jacob sent it seemed like a sudden decision and he and his wife Tara are leaving GA Soccer.

If it was a sudden decision, it was probably a professional disagreement (perhaps with direction of state ODP?). New boss coming in and stirring things up. It is interesting that USYS/GA Soccer is going forward with playing (including sending teams to NL Piedmont), but postponed ODP.
Also, shouldn't USSF either take over ODP or create a competing (better) scouting/training structure? Families pay for ODP, so it shouldn't cost the organization $10 Million to run.

I liked the guy. I wonder if the massive reduction in member clubs and dues resulted in a huge pay cut. Similar to the Club Pro at Augusta National not getting a cut of all the Merch sales this year. Hard times.
